Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere before but I keep encountering a problem with Zebra 2.5 in Ableton Live 8.

It is to do with the undo and re-do function.

When I am tweaking a sound and I use the undo function, I then use the re-do function to make a comparison and at this point when clicking the re-do button Zebra will often crash Live and the programme shuts down.

It's no big deal really as I can just re-do whatever parameters I have changed manually and clicking the undo function has never crashed the programme, but I just thought I should let you know about it.

It's Ableton Live 8.1 on a PC running Windows XP SP2 and the release version of Zebra 2.5

Thanks grandmasterbird. Can you make it crash too in another host?

I've been reporting some problems to Ableton which might either be related to Live or the way they're handling my plugins, so I hope we can work out a fix quickly. It'd be great to know if any other incompatibilities between Live and my stuff exist.

If it's a general bug, then it would be great to have a procedure to reproduce it, e.g. if it happens with certain parameters in certain presets.

i don't see this in live 8.0.8 on xp32 sp3 - undo/redo seems to work fine - any particular patch/param to try?

Urs. I just want to update you on the problem I'm having with the EQ in Live 8.09 on mac ppc os 10.4.11.

The EQ in both Zebra2.5 and Zebrify, just jump around to different settings whenever I try to move any node.
This problem only happens with the VST version.
However it works perfectly normal with the AU.

The VST Zebra2.5 also takes much longer to open than the AU. I get a blank white gui for a couple of seconds before opening.

Hi Urs,

I'm afraid I only use Ableton Live so I cant really check out if this happens in another host. The next time it happens I'll take note of what parameters the re-do is re-doing and let you know.

If it's any consellation I think Live 8 is totally full of bugs. I was using Live version 5 up until recently and it was always really solid.

I think (not 100% sure) that Live 8.10 worked with Zebra 2.3 just fine.
I just upgraded to Live 8.1.1 and happy to say that for me now Live doesnt crash on start up anymore. Loaded a song i used Zebra in and that also worked.

I just bumped into a small installer bug. When running the Zebra 2.5 installer from drive D:, and installing to "C:\Program Files\VstPlugins", the installer creates an empty "Program Files" folder on drive D:.

Yep. I tried literally *everything* to circumvent this, but InnoSetup doesn't let me do an installer without a hard-coded default location. There's literally no way around it, an I thought that having a Program Files folder is the better option as compared to an empty X:/u-he/ for everyone...

I should write some words about that maybe...

Urs, I am using InnoSetup as well and when I run installers for our applications it never adds anything to locations other than the user choice... if you wish, contact me and we can check...

Hi Urs, I don't know if you've already discovered this: For all patches that use the XMF modulated by the mod wheel, the cutoff for the XMF gets set to 0 as soon as I turn the mod wheel. I noticed this problem after I upgraded from 2.5 beta to 2.5.

Thanks

Mike

That sounds scary. Can anyone confirm?

You don't by coincidence have the mode set to "serial" while using ModWheel on the Offset parameter?

Can you send a preset? - I still don't have proper monitoring, but I'd love to give it a shot...

I've just tried and everything is working fine here.

Tried 2.5 native presets with both modwheel on a direct ... parameter and indirect modulation via the modmatrix. I don't have any weird modwheel side-effects.

It is possible this is an accidental midi-learn?
