2. There is not much round robin going on with the IMAP kits. I only found it in a few kit pieces :?: The GM kits have LOTS of round robin layers though. Is this by design because IMAP offers alternate hits? Will it vary from kit to kit? I understand why it's not on the splash and china cymbals but the snares should have it, right? Anyway, just need some clarification on how round robin works.

The snare DOES have it. But it is split between the main keys and the extra keys in iMap. But if you want to lose the extra keys then just click on extra key to make it gray and then make the on/off above "randomize" WHITE and that will add it into the main key's alt group. ALL of the maps pool from the same material but iMap is just the most flexible for being able to have things round robin (either sequentially or randomized) AND have some articulations have alts split off onto another key.

But anyway, it's easy enough for me to do an iMap that doesn't have the extra keys used and has MORE round robin. But you're incorrect about it only being for a few kit pieces. It is in practically ALL of the kit pieces. When I explain how it works with graphics maybe it will be more clear perhaps. That's coming this week.

3. Maybe I'm crazy (well, certainly I AM :D) but to me, the IMAP kits sound better than the GM kits. Am I hallucinating? :o

You might be. They don't sound different but GM is not as expressive as iMap... however it IS a standard so we support it AND these kits sound better than other GM kits that don't have as much animation. Generally speaking (npi).

4. I'm getting some strange level fluctuations. Sometimes, I get clipping (on full velocity tom hits) and other times, I can barely hear the snare hits. I'm using Groove Monkee Blues midi. I haven't noticed this with DM1. Weird :?

Each kit has different dynamics but you can adjust that. Just go to the VELOCITY tab on each of the kit pieces in that kit and adjust to so it sounds best to you. Some kits may sound better with midi files than others. You can also adjust the level of each articulatin of each kit piece now. It's called "trim" and it is right next to the alts in the mapping page.

The OWD kits are really dynamic in their DL form. It's pretty wide. But that can be a good thing. Different. But tweak it to your liking. That's what all those controls are for.

BTW the free demo with Kontakt player 2 works with my G5, OS 10.5.8 but it's not clear that this will be able to be used with the paid set.

Also ......... is it possible to map from a padKontrol?

Thanks. I'm sure the info is somewhere but the threads are just too long to search.
It will not work with Kontakt Player 2. The regular OWD will and Drum Masters 1 will. But this is for Kontakt 3.5 and higher.

Kontakt 3.5 will work with PPC though. We also suppply Kontakt Player 3.5 for free to you on our support page on www.sonicreality.com so try that and see. You can have that on your computer AND your full Kontakt 2 at the same time. Just only load these sounds from Kontakt Player 3.5

Yes you can play it from a padKontrol and map to it or the other way around.

I just downloaded the deluxepiano file (approx. 275 mb) in about 6 minutes. I recall some of the larger downloads previously going at easily twice or three times that rate. New servers?
Robust and multiple. We've had to increase it to accommodate more people downloading larger files. This GB turned out to be HUGE though so we'll keep an eye on it. The traffic color system will come in handy for people. Also, tips on download managers that you guys share is usually helpful. The "resume" download function is particularly useful for so-so connections.

Thank you. I'm feelin' a bit like a novice with these questions but I'd rather look the fool that not understand what's going on. And...maybe it helps others with similar observations. Who knows?

I know I ask a lot of questions Dave but I AM a loyal customer (Platinum member of esoundz) so, please don't get me the wrong way. I do appreciate the work you do and I'm a fan of your work. I just obsess (in a not-so-healthy-ocd kinda way) over details. Well, what can I do?

This will not work with the full version of Kontakt 2. I also have a G5 dual 2.0 PPC and run Kontakt 3.5 with no problems under 10.4.11

I know it's OT but for the one person wondering how the soup came out... it was magnificent! I HIGHLY recommend that one. Wow.

Sorry to hear about your download failure Michael.

But if you actually downloaded something that was 556 GB, then nine hours sounds about right. If you are talking about megabytes, however, then that is one slow transfer rate. :-o

Yeah, chicken broth is magic and no one could tell me otherwise! Man, never thought to use the bones from a rotisserie (as many times as I've had it) though. Hmmmm.

On the subject of food, I'm amazed at what ppl even CALL food these days  Good to see that you put some love into it Squids. We try to eat high quality food here too but it can cost almost twice as much and I guess we in the west just got used to food being cheap.

I should try it. I spent New Year's Day at home with a terrible cold. A good soup is always good :)

I didn't make your chicken soup, but as a result of all your soup talk, I made myself some spicy shrimp and broccoli soup for dinner. Yum.

It's not always more expensive. For instance, one might get a whole chicken anyway. So making more use of it is actually saving you money from say buying soup from a can... and this tastes better. You don't have go deluxe with the Yuzu juice. That's just my latest discovery and I get a kick out of unusual ingredients. The other thing I like to mess around with is rice paper and soy paper (mamenori). Anything "wrapped" is usually good. You can wrap a shoe and with the right sauce... ;) But good fresh ingredients are to be appreciated like anything else. I am not a health nut or anything. I'll eat a hamburger like most other Americans would (and others but we seem to BREATHE hamburgers here)... it's just that there's this place down the street that makes the BEST hamburgers and it happens to even be cheap so if I am going to have one I prefer to have one there. I guess it's how you perceive "quality".

Now, to make an analogy to sounds, the same thing can be said about say drum samples. One you might like because the fidelity is just crisp, clean and punchy. But another you might like because it is crunchy and dirty sounding. That's the gourmet soup vs. the hamburger. Or maybe I have been smelling too many herbs in the kitchen.

Hey that sounds good! Tomato-based? Broccoli huh? Hmmm. Interesting. I also like puree soups and there is this place in Santa Monica called Votre Sante that makes really good ones. A lot of actors and actresses go there but it isn't Hollywoody. It IS very Californian though. Some good restaurants there. Here in Miami there are some good ones but I am discovering some interesting new restaurants like this one that does Tapas. I love little appetizers. I used to cater the company parties. Haven't in a while though.

In 2001 I had only 2 employees and we'd do something called "Sushi Tuesdays" where I would go to a sushi restaurant and pick up the rice already made and a few other shortcuts and then go to Publix to get some shrimp and I'd make spicey tuna rolls, spicey shrimp with avocado etc. We'd put on some Pink Floyd and take a nice long lunch and then get back to work. Those days are over. jk

O.K. Call me dense but I've been to the support page of Sonic Reality as well as the support pages for esoundz and downloadablesoundz (all over town!) and I've not found where I can download Kontakt 3.5. I see Allen has already re enabled my Infinite Player-only download in my user area but now I need to download Kontakt on my own and I can't find it (I want 3.5).

I'm planning to try and download something again tonight while I'm sleeping and I see the downloadablesoundz traffic is high so I was going to try to get Kontakt tonight. (And I now have DownloadItAll for Firefox - thanks for the tip.) I'm hopeful I can try this stuff out by mid-week.

It was megabytes (probably wishful thinking on my part!).
