Already started, at the expense of delaying the OSX work.
Just installed GNU Octave, writing MATLAB code to analyze Moog filters :D

Omg when will I reach a programming level like that...
Currently I'm afraid I'm flying out of IT college cause I've already f*cked up this semester :D

Last night I received filter sweep samples for

Virus TI
Prophet 8

And this week I'm expecting to receive more samples, so expect that I'll be pretty busy comparing the responses of all of those hardware synths with SynthMaster 2.0 :D

And how do you see, can you use them as reference? :P

So the sm2 will be transformed into the ultimate emulator?^^ waveforms, filters etc :D

If you get Roland filter sweeps and can replicate them I will be a very happy man :-)

I'm expecting to receive a couple more actually. Only after I have 4/5 different HW synths I'll dig into comparing. For now, I'm improving my Moog ladder model.

Cool - The new year starts with very good news!! Really looking forward to more filter control / modes... And when the MAC version comes to live it will be even more perfect ;-)

edit: just fyi, it seems that the link to the synth picture on your website frontpage is broken...

More good news:

Now the filters have 2 drive parameters, as if one wasnt enough :D

The second drive we're introducing is to boost the input signal before it enters into the filter. I dont know why, but I just havent experimented with that idea before, although it creates wonderful distortions :tu:

Also, I received Roland Juno and Moog Voyager filter sweeps. Will be a good exercise trying to model those. I might choose to implement a generic filter engine where the user can "draw" the filter distortion curve and create very different types of filters, well we'll see!

Also, for the "ladder" modeled filters, since they're multi-mode (i.e. you can get many sorts of filter types from the same filter) I can experiment with the idea of "morphing" different filter modes. We'll see that as well over time :D

Cheers everyone, and thanks for your patience. It's 2:34 AM here and time to sleep :D

Whoa, it's going to rock! Do you have some audio demos? ;)

I'll try to finish the initial filter work next week and make a new release. I'll post some mp3's tomorrow.

BTW, Teoman just told me that he sampled his Andromeda filters as well :tu:

And... I'm gonna implement an important feature this week: Drift parameter for oscillator detune + envelope/lfo volumes. I hope that's gonna make sound SM2 more "organic" :)

Nice additions; then there's no need for separate attack/decay for lfos.
Btw what do you think about a possible 'loop' and 'inv' button for envelopes? :D

Hi Bulent! Any news about new update? :P

Here's an update everyone:

Still working on the filters. Just want to make sure the analog models sound "good" :)

This weekend I took some break from the filter work and implemented the following new features:

1. Drift parameter for oscillators, modulators, envelopes: Now SynthMaster 2 will sound more "analog" with the introduction of the drift parameter. What it does it: It tries to model the time varying changes in analog circuits: Over time, when a circuit heats for instance, the capacitor/resistor/inductor values change because of the heating effect. So, to model this, we implemented a very slowly varying random LFO behind the scenes. I hope you guys will like it :)

2. Bit Depth parameter for the envelopes: Now you'll be able to apply bit reduction for the envelopes.

3. Envelope Amount parameter for the envelopes: With the addition of this parameter it'll be easier to modulate the envelopes with other MIDI Velocity, Keyscalers, etc...

I still can not give a clear release date. There's still the work to finish on:

Improving the "analog" filters
Fixing the reverb
Implementing the mod matrix UI

And after those changes of course we'll have to update the presets, introduce a new skin. So in the worst case, all of these changes might be released near the end of February.
