Just a hint: it's still far from normal snare, but if you already have BD you can fry and lowpass it. It will be cheap and noisy:-)

Post

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Since my post, I managed to get some versions of a snare... I'd share up how I got them, but to be honest, it defies explanation. Basically I got lucky with a combination of pitch envelope, frying, and then a fast LFO on the pitch again, and a whole lot of other little details.
Although, I also had good results with some synth layering.

This synth is quite hard to work with. Fortunately, it's got pretty good options for basses, so I might use it again for that, down the road. Yet, on the other hand, because of a bug in Cubase, I can't save any of the 20 presets I've made so far. Ugh.

This is just to be notified of news by the forum (not that it always does, but...)

I'm glad to see new thread. I have had a longtime blackout for whole yesterday and today's morning, because of heavy snow and tree branches falling gratefully on energy lines all around my province. I had planned to do some drum patches for Rogue, but I had problem with being out of power. All I was able to do was to do some composition on my mobile phone. The drum patch puzzles me a lot, especially because I'm not sure what is fed into lowpass filter by default. Meh... I have problems with understanding internal structure of this synth... :(

Post

With this synth, I can't blame anyone for not understanding it...

 Still no upload button...

I'd like to echo(pun intended !...or reverb)the sentiment of Rogue being a tricky one to program but MAN, it sounds great! It should not be hard for any one to get a very good track even just using the presets "as is".

And the prizes are a great motivator! I got Zebra2 for X mas and I'd love to add ACE.

Good luck to all.

Post

Tricky yes, but great?! Man, you gotta be kidding:-) The main problem is its monotimbrality tho.

Post

MA-Simon ...you're quick off the mark! :) Sorry, forgot to check re. the upload ... I will sort it out soon ... I just got back home, so bear with me.

Wow lots of activity!! .... and another prize donation to announce ... however, I'm gonna keep you all in suspense while i go fix the upload button :)

Post

OK, upload button fixed .. bring it on MA-Simon! :)

... and that prize donation?

Synthgeek has generously offered a copy af 'Zweihaender' .... Info and mp3 demos here ... http://synthgeek.skincontact.com/node/143

... brilliaint Synthgeek, thanks very much for your support! :)

.... oh and just a quick heads up ... still time to vote for tracks in OSC11 ... about 12 hours officially, but prob more like 14 by the time I get up in the morning and announce the final points/positions :)

Post

Re snare sounds, I got a snare sound .. still need to work on it a bit ... dont mind saving the preset and sharing it once I've tweaked it a little bit more.
I'll post when I have something worthy of passing on ... or I could open a folder for folks to upload presets at their leisure?

EDIT .... yeah, good idea I think ... so folder now open to upload presets you wish to share.

Yeah! Thank you tattiemannie!
Uploaded...

However not a very "normal" one:

"Enable Smiling" --- but it actually sounds more like a very creazy smiling :3 (3:14)

Done with 10 instances of Rogue
+ a little bit of "reverbering" on the lead synths coming in later in the track.
Used Cubase Studio 5 as host.

---but now, after hearing it the 500 time, i think it is missing something :?
maybe i will overwork it on another day.

(feels a little bit panic with all the new people joining :3, no more winning for me!)

Post

Great stuff MA-Simon! ... you're way ahead of the game, so if you want to remix/redo, you've plenty time ... just gimme a shout if you need me to remove the track before you re-up! :)
