thats a pitty that they do not answer.
what i expected from the new a 3/4 year expected software is, that you control the vmachine from your pc. that means: why edit at a pc and then send to the vmachine. why no connect via usb to the vmachine load the plugin on the pc, edit parameter but this would change the values at the vmachine. no need to transfer presets to the machine, just edit on the machine via usb.
hey, they had a 3/4 year time.

Hi everyone,
first post here, but i've been lurking for a while now..
I finally recieved the download-link to the beta software (build 20091208), and after reading the documentation installed it, but I can't get it to run: on both XPsp3 and Vista Home Premium it crashes on launch.
Does anyone have any tips to get it running?

Post

Hey Mike,
sounds great :-( I've got it run on Vista (but don't know how). Have a look at the vfx.log (location: C:\Users\YOUR PC\AppData\Roaming\vfx) maybe you can find any reason for the error or you take the log and sent it via a ticket to smproaudio support.

much luck

Hi Sumsi, tnx for the reply but unfortunately the software doesn't even manage to load to the point that the log file is generated.
I just reinstalled it to give your suggestion a try, and initially there was no vfx folder in my \Roaming folder. It appeared when I tried to launch the software, but the only thing in the folder is the goodtimes font.

Hi All,

Working samples have arrived to the office and it is giving us 2-3 times the power plus ability to upgrade to 2gb ram. TO be realistic at this point I would say that we will do a proper release at NAMM for the upgrade, you would still need a standard V-Machine and then get the upgrade CPU BOARD (it is not just a CPU but also the chipset ). With the new firmware being released shortly for the V-Machine it will make a huge difference to the operation and usability of the unit even in it's current form. I estimate the cost to be as we did previously, this has not changed.

It is a drop in board so no soldering or anything like that is required.

Regards
Danny

Wat happend with the cpu upgrade???!!!! I didnt hear anything else about it, and the NAMM show began yet. Please dont lie to us!!!!!

yeah they've announced a bunch of other products but nothing for the v-machine. No CPU-upgrade, no new soft- & firmware. Very dissapointing.

Slow company is slow.

Really a shame, they could've had the world if V-Machine wasn't rushed with incomplete OS and underpowered CPU.

I still hope they don't mess up with the V-Rack. If they do... it would be shame squared.

i saw the v-macine at namm, id never tried one out before tho ive been reading here all the time.

my impression is that it was very cool, mainly i tried switching the vstis they had loaded and loading time was faster than id been lead to believe and switching presets was way smoother.

got kinda sidetracked by switching latency times and really without my windsynth i couldnt tell much differences, i cant finger notes on a keyboard anywhere near as close to as fast as i can double tongue on windsynth so all the settings they set it to sounded remarkably the same, tho i did notice they switching between them without any hassle it was like bang heres 64 samples and then i played some and then bang they switched to 128 samples and then 256 one after another no problem at all and of course with the loaded vstis, such as wavestation, i didnt have any problems playing heavy polyphony at any of those at any of those settings.

and then i discussed using windsynth with it for awhile and i'm sorry but i only asked about the cpu upgrade in passing but they did have it on display there.

but i'll buy one based on what the standard unit did, weighs nothing and certianly can perform to its price and then some.
