Tony Ostinato wrote:i saw the v-macine at namm, id never tried one out before tho ive been reading here all the time.
my impression is that it was very cool, mainly i tried switching the vstis they had loaded and loading time was faster than id been lead to believe and switching presets was way smoother.
got kinda sidetracked by switching latency times and really without my windsynth i couldnt tell much differences, i cant finger notes on a keyboard anywhere near as close to as fast as i can double tongue on windsynth so all the settings they set it to sounded remarkably the same, tho i did notice they switching between them without any hassle it was like bang heres 64 samples and then i played some and then bang they switched to 128 samples and then 256 one after another no problem at all and of course with the loaded vstis, such as wavestation, i didnt have any problems playing heavy polyphony at any of those at any of those settings.
and then i discussed using windsynth with it for awhile and i'm sorry but i only asked about the cpu upgrade in passing but they did have it on display there.
but i'll buy one based on what the standard unit did, weighs nothing and certianly can perform to its price and then some.
Yes, I agree, I bought the V machine cause I was tired to Carry my two rack units esi 2000 sampler, and it is nice to have good sounding organ sounds in a tiny device. But in the specifications the say you can create splits and layers, and the internal structure of the v machine let you put four vsti in one patch, and it is impossible today, these is the reason of our anger, I can imagine four Fm7 creating realy amaysing sounds, we realy need these expantion, wat's the problem, we will pay for it!!!!!
I bought the vmachine because these specifications, its not fair if I cant do it. The reality is, if they put in their webside, that it is ONE vsti unit, they won't sell so many units.

Warning! Probably you've tryed one "cpu upgraded" V-machine!. And of course that's not the same V-machine you can find in stores.Tony Ostinato wrote:i saw the v-macine at namm, id never tried one out before tho ive been reading here all the time.

Well, I cant complain too much because I've payed 200u$s for my second-hand V-machine (and I know it has a small cpu than it needs). In teory, I'll receive tomorrow the V-machine ... so still cant try it.marckolb wrote:

So, guys ... How many VSTi can you use loeaded at same time with the 1ghz CPU?
I mean, at least .. can I use 4 VSTi (one per slot)???

You're lucky if you can run TWO CPU-light plugins. But more than one on 1 GHz CPU is a gamble.walerandei wrote:So, guys ... How many VSTi can you use loeaded at same time with the 1ghz CPU?

It depends; what does a standard keyboard player need?walerandei wrote: So, guys ... How many VSTi can you use loeaded at same time with the 1ghz CPU?

IMHO a piano and a hammond...this is a must (everything else depends on what kind of music you are playing)!!!
With V-machine is almost impossible to create a bank with a piano and a hammond, without getting a CPU overload!!!
B4 or VB3 dont require so much resources...truepianos (also the new amber version) nowadays is a very light vst (90 mb) in comparison to other products on the market (East West, Ivory, The grand, NI Akoustik Piano...) rather I'd say that is a ridicolous size (otherwise it sounds very good
BUT, actually you will never be able to create this bank using the piano with a good polyphony.
Give it a try and come back here to give us your opinion!

Your kidding me ...DragonSagoth wrote: You're lucky if you can run TWO CPU-light plugins. But more than one on 1 GHz CPU is a gamble.
... anyway, didnt expect too much ... I've been reading this topic since first 20 pages long time ago. But, always there's a hope ... uhmm, bad thing.
A "Superwave p8" is a CPU-light plugin?
To be honest ... I have a lot of Hardware gear, and I dont want the V-machine to load a Piano or sample stuff (in fact, I dont care if I have to use my heavy stuff in concerts).delafuerte wrote: ... BUT, actually you will never be able to create this bank using the piano with a good polyphony.![]()

The use I've planned to my V-machine, it's only in studio enviroment. I'm a MAC user and I miss some "only-windows" pluggins I like a lot and can not use in MAC. This is my mayor reason to get a V-machine.
My hope is to be able to load al least 3 light VSTi with different midi channels.
Anyway, I'll try it and of course I'll come back here to left some ideas. In fact, I'm planning to stay a long time around here!
Thanx guys for your answers!

Superwave could be considered a light one; nevertheless, even some Superwave presents (just one instance of the vst) give you a "nice" CPU overload if you play many notes! Draw your conclusion....walerandei wrote: Your kidding me ...![]()

In my experience I'd say that 3 vst could be easily too much.walerandei wrote: My hope is to be able to load al least 3 light VSTi with different midi channels.

Superwave P8 can choke on certain presets because of the effects used (delay) and also depends on how many keys you press. After all, it does use up to 16 detuned oscillators. So it's only CPU light, if you have a dualcore
On V-Machine, you can't run anything else beside it.
walerandei, for your studio work, V-Rack would be more appropriate solution.

I'll give it a chance ... but I'm afraid you're right!
Even totally drunk ... I'll not spent more money in a "SM PRO AUDIO" product.DragonSagoth wrote: walerandei, for your studio work, V-Rack would be more appropriate solution.
Just I'll wait for the CPU upgrade, but now I can figure myself better the kind of company we are talking about. Many promises but cero results.
At first (2007), I thought it was a software problem (all the complains) ... but 3 years later its clear that the real problem Is a bad desition in the hardware of the product. And I can't explain How is it posible to the company to load in this machine at least 4 VSTi plus 2 vst (effects), in order to be sure about the limits of the V-machine ---> Even today, in the website they are telling to people about 4 slots with 3 layers plus 2 effects (with 1ghz CPU) ... To me, it sounds like a lie.
The CPU upgrade should be ready to ship today ... now. And of course, it should be free of charge because the machine doesnt do what they prommise in the machine's marketing.

I'm very sorry, delafuente.
Anyway ... Did anyone tryed to replace the CPU yet?
