Fair enough. You are welcome to your opinion.Aloysius wrote:Three layers would be sufficient IMHO. Six is bloated. Like a girl wearing giant ear-rings or a rapper with a clock around his neck. Both trying to make up for some inferiority complex or some such thing. None of these designs will ever see the inside of my Computer. I don't like 'em one little bit. They don't look remotely professional!
That is my opinion.
Seeing these skins as potential candidates seems to have provoked something within me.I'm sure I'll get over it though!
Three of the layers are attached to the phrase sequencer, all of which can be assigned MIDI channels. All notes created in the Phrase Sequencer can be assigned to different MIDI numbers, hence, you can create as much as 3-part backing, such as a drum groove, bass, trance, arp or more.
The remaining three are independent of the Phrase Sequencer so that you can, when zoned and layered, play them independently of the Phrase Sequencer - and these can also be assigned different MIDI channels.
This allows for quite a bit of sonic power in one instance.
Or, you can use all 6 layers to create an orchestral arrangement or a massive unison synth. Because SuperCore allows for zoning and layering of sounds across the keyboard, you can also have, for example, two layers of bass on the bottom octave, strings or brass on the middle octaves, using up another two or three layers, and then a lead instrument in the top octaves - using up the remaining layers.
That is why I chose 6 layers - and I feel it is perfectly acceptable to have that many layers. Many other romplers and synths have equally as many layers. Most Korg keyboards have multiple layers, so does other HARDWARE synths - and I think people are still buying those.
