Aloysius wrote:Three layers would be sufficient IMHO. Six is bloated. Like a girl wearing giant ear-rings or a rapper with a clock around his neck. Both trying to make up for some inferiority complex or some such thing. None of these designs will ever see the inside of my Computer. I don't like 'em one little bit. They don't look remotely professional!

That is my opinion.

Seeing these skins as potential candidates seems to have provoked something within me. :) I'm sure I'll get over it though!
Fair enough. You are welcome to your opinion.

Three of the layers are attached to the phrase sequencer, all of which can be assigned MIDI channels. All notes created in the Phrase Sequencer can be assigned to different MIDI numbers, hence, you can create as much as 3-part backing, such as a drum groove, bass, trance, arp or more.

The remaining three are independent of the Phrase Sequencer so that you can, when zoned and layered, play them independently of the Phrase Sequencer - and these can also be assigned different MIDI channels.

This allows for quite a bit of sonic power in one instance.

Or, you can use all 6 layers to create an orchestral arrangement or a massive unison synth. Because SuperCore allows for zoning and layering of sounds across the keyboard, you can also have, for example, two layers of bass on the bottom octave, strings or brass on the middle octaves, using up another two or three layers, and then a lead instrument in the top octaves - using up the remaining layers.

That is why I chose 6 layers - and I feel it is perfectly acceptable to have that many layers. Many other romplers and synths have equally as many layers. Most Korg keyboards have multiple layers, so does other HARDWARE synths - and I think people are still buying those.

Your "Hell" skin is very good IMO, specially the background. I don't like the knobs & faders though...

In fact, we have two new skins already.

Scoobz came up with a creepy red theme I titled the "Hell" skin:

Dwsel came up with this cool as heck watercolor design:

And the default skin was made by yours truly:

We have several more skins being created and they will all, including the ones above, be included when you purchase SuperCore.

If you are already slated to receive SuperCore through one of our sales, you get these as well.

More info and audio demos coming soon.

You should get rid off the horrible white/yellow backgrounds of the patch sound and under the a/d/s/r, make them look like the rest of whatever design you do, maybe a more hardware style digital readout, like Ultra Analog/Predator...Darker background but with lit up writing/digits, I like no.1 best but in a blue would be nicer, also my second fave is yours - but I like blue. BTW this doesn't mean I'm buying it, can you still get in early by buying your Horror Synth? Could you actually explain more about this also, is it your equivalent of an Ominisphere type synth! Curious!

Omnisynth is Omnisynth and I would dare not compete with it.

This is my synth for my samplesets, like PRIZM, Monstrous and plenty of new expansion packs.

A few things are not editable or were chosen on purpose, the rest can be edited freely.

Not sure what you mean by the horrible white/yellow background comment.

The patch and a/d/s/r numeric boxes, too bright and the black writing looks cheap...make it look like hardware is what I'm saying - digital readouts like predator/ultra analog....looks naff compared to the rest of the red hell...just my opinion, but you want opinions?

Some of the ui's have white boxes, some yellow/creamish on the a/d/s/r & patch box's(where the sample is)

So it's an expandable think like Wusikstation then! So will have different uses and layering possibilites....

Heads up for those doing gui the spacing on the layers is not proportional. I didn't catch it as you can see on the left hand of the image below, I dont know if I'm the only one that missed it. I have provided a demo of the actually spacing between things that might help in the layout process on the right side that is clipped you'll have to scroll over, or go to the link and view the full size image

Any chance of changing this? It shows on the other skins as well.

Thanks but it will not work due to uneven spacing. I'm going to try and fake it but I don't know if it will look right.

I can re-adjust the controls to make your skin line up. Synthedit has ZERO ways to line stuff up. I wish it had guidelines or something. It has a grid, but it's useless for skin design. I end up nudging everything by hand.

I don't use SE only reaktor but an idea for the future if you have photoshop (perhaps gimp) you could set up your guides for the demensions your using take a screenshot and load that into the canvas save. load that into SE and you have guides that might help to some degree. When I finish this up I'll arrange some guides for you so loading this will be easier.

I like the KK original, the size, spacing, and contrast of the elements make it easy
to find everything, and the basic controls are placed where no confusion exists in
the workflow. Instant productivity! The eyecandy is minimalist, as it should be, nice
gradients and sparkle, none of which compete with settings or controls. This is the gui
SonicSynth2 should have had! 8)
