I use 3 vst "sfz" plugings, voices each 1 mb polyphonical, but they are not heavy, not overloaded, for example Dreamstation 2 and FL 9 says ok (without any snaps)even I use 5 and more simillar SFZ plugings with same presets.
MU Lab's CPU indicator says = OK (minimal, not jumped as overloaded)
Even don't know what the problem

Are you also using ASIO in FL9?
If yes, then use the exact same settings in MU.LAB and it should work ok.
But maybe you're using DirectSound or MME in FL9?

here's a little thing I've never bothered to post , but while we're on the subject of 'snapping sounds':
When there's an audio track and you're nudging notes in MIDI parts/ MIDI parts themselves/ draw automation etc during playback, MU.LAB will make slight snapping noises whenever a particular operation is done (ie, dropping a MIDI part somewhere else, letting go of a note etc etc.)
It could happen with any number of audio tracks or a combination of audio and MIDI, but never in MIDI-only project.
This has been happening since the LUNA days. It's my little Mutools friend or something. Sorry if I've been lazy and this points to some greater issue or other, but it never annoyed me enough to make a fuss.

Yes, there maybe little audio hickups here and there when doing edits. This might be more prominent when using audio files. I'll continue looking for ways to minimize this as much as possible, but note it's only when making changes. I don't think it's that what synthyboy meant, or?

Jo, I really prefer to use "default" Direct X drv, but also installed "asio for all" SPECIAL for Mu Lab
I C.A.N. use Asio settings
BUT I still hear the snaps. I havn't same problems in FL and DS 2 ... with S.A.M.E. Asio settings.
I don't know why, may be for the Core 2 supports in Mu Lab problem ???
ok, I'll try to play my pattern on my friend PC and let you know result.

1) whe using DS in FL, the asio settings don't matter of course. OR you're sending your audio via DS OR via ASIO.
2) I don't know why SFZ would cause the snaps

SFZ has been working fine here. synthyboy, is this in 3.0.x or 2.7? In 2.7, I was running SFZ with both (large) SF2 files and (large-ish) SFZ mapped sample sets, with no problems. On 3.0.x I've tried it with a large SF2 (ns_kit7 demo) and it was fine. All with "native" ASIO drivers, though.

pljones, I have 2.7 Mu lab version, I havn't 3 version because I'm not in the Mu-test group.
thanx for your answer, I needed to know third side opinion as much objective.
Yes, I thought this is not may problems with overloading of Mu Lab, because CPU indicator shows ok = not overload PC system, but I needed to know, what's the strange snap-noises
ok, about possible Asio drivers bugs on my PC, have you "Asio for All drv" or you have Asio sound card ?

On my old PC, it was the Echo MiaMIDI ASIO driver. On my new PC, it's the Echo AudioFire4 ASIO driver. I was running with ASIO4ALL on the old PC for a while but I can't remember whether I actually used SFZ during that period but I don't remember there being any problem.
Old PC: AMD Athlon 2800+, 2GB RAM, RAID0 SATA pair sample drive, separate system drive
New PC: AMD Phenom 9650, 3.25GB RAM, single SATA2 sample drive, separate system drive

When I used at first time MU Lab I had a slow machine 2500 AMD 512 Mb and don't remember snaps - noises too. I tried today to install Demo TunaFish and got next result - TF + SFZ + DX drv working ok, but with last free Asio drv - same snaps too ...pljones wrote:On my old PC, it was the Echo MiaMIDI ASIO driver. Note: snaps sounds even when used on maximum settings Asio. So, I thinking this problem may be for Asio drv or their conflict with Core 2 system.

On my old system, ASIO4ALL could get flawless performance down to 128 samples - effectively unnoticeable latency. On my new system, the on-board audio needs some different settings... I've not yet installed it again to try them out, though. Try altering the "use hardware buffers" setting (something like that)... I think that was what I was told...
