Have you joined the 1.5 beta team to run the latest software?

All support is done directly from the support pages on www.smproaudio.com

We have done Major reworking on the firmware and software and you are welcome to join and use it.

Sorry VFXAU,

but in the beta-test email was written that after 2 weeks the beta goes public. now after 6 weeks there is no public beta!
I asked 2 times via the beta-email adress about the public beta and got no answer! So how do you call this? i call this silence like Mike Frost did.
So let us join, post the link to the beta SW and i will happily help you to improve the beta. But i will not sign a contract that is written in a language that is not my native language to join a beta test!

That sound wierd to me, I will check this out.
In regards to the CPU as I have said before, several times. it is 2-3 times the power (depends on the plugins but actual performance increase in some plugins is 5 times as much) it can handle upto 2 gig of ram. We used it at the NAMM show and I feel that with current production schedule would have a limited amount available in March, (maybe 500 units) we will offer these to current users on a first come first serve basis at around $180.

We will have videos about the upgrade in the next 2 weeks.
The sun is going to shine in the morning, at least above the clouds.

Sounds good, I've been watching Harmony Central for NAMM news, I saw an Sm Pro entry but it wasn't a vst loader.

OMG, finally!

That's what we wanted to "hear"!

VFXAU, and how do you plann to announce the upgrade? Via this Forum? Another one? In your site? Will you email all your registered customers?

I'm asking this because your way to communicate your news has been very poor up to now. You have used this Forum that doesn't even belong to you. How do you think your average customers have to find out this Forum and/or any information in it?

hmmm maybe its just me but the obvious answer to that is 1.) all of the above.

not sure what not owning this forum has to do with anything...i post here all the time and i dont even own a share.

i gotta re-sing the refrain of reminder here, programming is tougher than anything anyone else in this thread does, first of all, not to mention programming for custom hardware. programming is THE biotch.

the rule of innovative tech is you can only dump on the developer of something for which there is no current competitor so much.

i totally get that itd be great if things moved faster but often theres actual reasons they can't and it's not just people trying to be mean to you.

id really dig seein a youtube of some user custom built box anything near this size with as fast a bootup and as much capability, don't get me wrong.

its just that, for now, v-machine is the only game in town and therefore they kinda own everything.

and they didnt get there by bein lame, theyre probably whipping their own horses more than we ever could anyways.

hmm maybe ill head to the olympics and yell "ski faster!!" [/b]

Finally.
Just tried to give it a quick go on my (Vista32) laptop, but unfortunately this version is giving me the same trouble as the previous beta-version: it crashes on launch.

I've reported this behaviour before to no avail, and as I see you've added the "beta software is not supported" message to the download page I don't have much confidence that it will be resolved this time.

INSTALLED and WORKING!
( Windows XP sp3 - Laptop PIV with 512mb )

OK ... Here's my report:

1 - The VFX software installed without any issues, over the last oficial release.

2 - When tryed to update the V-machine's firmware, the VFX crashes at first try. The v-machine remains with the "upgrading %" in the display, so after restart de VFX aplication it starts with the upgrade process without any issues (as it never crashes). NOTE: If you dont see the hardware display, you cant notice that VFX is upgrading.

3 - The new VFX, still loads my old banks and presets (I didnt touch or config anything), but I see that all the mix levels are a little higher, and all panning knobs are a little changed to the left (it is because a change in the new firmware about the pan position, in order to equal with the default midi center value). If I try to edit this values, VFX starts a strange behaviour with the mouse's pointer (you can't see the pointer if it is inside de VFX windows, for about 30 seconds or a minute - you should press several times the mouse's buttons to recover it -).

4 - After delete all the banks, and create them again manually with new firmware VFX; the strange behaviour just dissapears. So, I asume theres a conflict between the banks created with old firmwares and the new one (may be it is because it seems that in the new firmware the banks/preset structure have changed in order to support folders or something like that). After re-created my banks, all works nice!

5 - Like magic!!! After upgrade v-machine, ODDITY and MINIMONSTA starts to work normal. The audio output of both VSTi works in stereo (before upgrade, they work only by the right channel). I've left some comments here about this issue (even in the V-machine's forum, and in the tickets system of smproaudio) ... and didnt receive any answer about it ... until now. It is cristal, that it was a problem in the v-machine's firmware.

6 - Good news! The time that takes to upload a vst/vsti to the v-machine (using USB cable), now works more faster! For example ... with the old firmware to upload an Albino3 it tooks me about 25 minutes. With the new firm it was only between 5 and 6 minutes.

7 - The new "import VST" function works very nice!. Importing Albino, it was a children's game. The VFX did it everything (no more regedit or shit like that).

8 - I've found that in the new firmware there was some missing WIZARD FILES, like the ImpOSCar's (the solution is to donwload the Wizard from smpro's website and rename de extension of the file to ".vfxwizard" ... and use it to install the pluggin). It seems that it can be upgraded so, probably in the following "wizard database" release it gonna be solved.

9 - I like the new SYNC system. It has more options and it is more flexible.

Still didn't try more (and didn't try with Mac vfx). If I find something remarcable, I'll post it!

This "around" means more cheaper? Please? :help:

Just tried the new beta on my WinXP system with the exact same result: fails to launch.
Anyone with tips?

/edit:

I've finally managed to get it to run!
I decided to do the trial & error thing, so I started uninstalling every plugin one at a time, then try to launch the vfx beta again, and after uninstalling a really old version of ReFX Beast it suddenly launched!
The dll file I was using must have been damaged or something as I then downloaded it from here and installed it again, and everything's still working.

I use an old laptop, with a WIN XP "clean install", only to VFX and VSTs (nothing else installed), in order to prevent any conflict with other software (the first time when tryed to install and use VFX with other software -like photoshop, dreamwavear, reaper and stuff like that- ), the laptop didnt recognize the V-machine hardware ... so, I've formated the pc and everything went nice).

VFX isn't very stable in a multi-task enviroment (the more if you use Windows).

Using this beta ... I've found that cant load any preset to Minimonsta VSTi. Every time I try to load a preset or a bank, VFX crashes. :?

is there some secret way to get into the beta? i've sent the NDA to smproaudio 4 times now starting in december and never heard anything back.

Post

the beta is public, got to the smproaudio homepage :)
