That's a difficult decision task... I'm surrounded by lots of nice sounds.

1. bass doodler
2. Bumpa
3. Poker+

Post

Still some time, but not much, to submit votes. I know, this is a tough one :)

Post

Hope it's not too late, but here are my 3 picks:

1. bass doodler
2. DX Bass
3. low roller

Post

1. kRiLL+ (Lucky this sounded so good because I was almost going to deduct points for the unreadability of the patch and performance info, the random capitalisation gave me a headache looking at it)
2. Catch the Bass+ (Good XY programming meant that I could tweak this to sounds that I really like, might have passed it by if it was restricted to the initial sound)
3. Bumpa (Simple, but I just like the sound of this, particularly with the mod wheel on)

Post

1. Catch the bass
2. Drunk Ass
3. Bumpa

Post

1. kRiLL+

2. Chesty-Bd-Bass

3. Drunk Ass

Post

Dave Bourke wrote:Obviously, by its nature, a drone bass is not nearly as versatile. But I have to say that I love Drone buzz+ - the only thing I don't understand (being a preset jockey) is why the tuning is set to 2:1 rather than 1:1.
Now that the voting's done and the patch authors revealed I can answer this question. The tuning is set to 2:1 because I created this patch via U-he's patch randomiser from another (unreleased) patch of mine, which was a pad. I had to do quite a bit of work to tame the randomised patch (and even still it is a bit wild) and I simply didn't notice the tuning was wrong, since when I drone I tend to just hold down one key without attempting to play a tune. After you mentioned this, I went back to look at the patch, and I can't even figure out where this 2:1 tuning is set.

Also, for both my patches it is a complete accident that they are in 2.3 mode. Again, I didn't check things carefully enough. And I was wondering why and couldn't hear any real change when I changed the 2nd filter settings in the XMF! If you switch that patch to 2.5 mode, you can get a hint of formant action in there.

As for the Bowng+ naming debacle, I'd already named the patch then decide to remove all the XY programming, since there was some debate in an earlier patch comp about them being undesirable. And I almost went back and changed the name, but decided to keep it because of the other modulations.

Well done HiEnergy

(and a :smack: to those who submitted a patch but didn't vote)

Great bass HiEnergy. Congratulations.

Sorry about giving Dave or anyone else a headache with my ransom note description.
