Why the spacebar behavior?

I'm trying out the modulation plugins (chorus, flange, phase) in Logic 9, and they sound great, but... I find it very annoying that they take over the spacebar, which in Logic is the default key to start & stop play.

I don't really see the purpose of having the spacebar duplicate what you could do by simply clicking a button in the plugin interface. Is there any way to disable this behavior? Thanks.

Just to add a bit more... At least on the Mac, the spacebar is the universal start/stop play key in every audio/MIDI app I know (even iTunes and QuickTime). Has been that way for many years. A plugin taking away that function is a BIG no-no, IMHO.

When I'm working on sounds, I like to keep plugin windows open. It's extremely annoying to hit Play and have the plugin user manual, or even worse, the dev's web page fly open in my face because I forgot and hit the spacebar when focus was still on the plug window.

And again, it doesn't add any new functionality, it just duplicates what you can do with the mouse. I hope there's a way to disable this, because I really like the sound of your mod plugs.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, we have noticed the problem and we are currently fixing the issue. We will be releasing a new version soon.

Just to let you know, we are still encountering problems with some applications due to Cocoa/Carbon interactions (focus is just lost in some cases), but at least in Logic and Garage Band it now works fine :).

That's good to hear -- thanks for the response!
