Thesys-Help with midi sending AU problem

When I load Thesys AU in any daw, only using the internal synth, and midi set to host.
I then select any preset, and click the play arrow within Thesys.
It plays the pattern, but also the midi notes will play the controller keyboard at the bottom of the GUI. The controller keyboard where it says "pattern select-action section-pitch".
How do I stop this behavior? How do I stop the AU from sending midi on notes to the GUI keyboard controller within Thesys?
The VST version DOES NOT do this.
I don't want the AU version sending midi on to the looper and other action-pitch-pattern keys, unless I press keys on my own hardware midi controller.
I still can't figure it out after many attempts, and your last reply to this question, was not an appropriate answer to my problem.
Thank you for any help on this matter.

Can you please help me with this problem.
How do I stop the AU version of Thesys from sending midi to the GUI keyboard action-pitch keys?
The VST version doesn't do this, so why does the AU version?
This happens if I set it to host or use the bus1 workaround.
In other words, the au version is triggering midi commands (like looper..etc)just when playing a sequence.

Hi,
please tell me which host you are using.
If you can use the VST version then do it, only VST's support Midi out currently. Please also check the manual for the routing Logic, if thats the host you are using.
Best,
Robert

It happens in every host using the AU version,
Live, Garageband, and Reaper.
Using the internal synth. On both settings, set to host or the bus1 Logic workaround.
It sends midi to the Thesys GUI action-pitch keyboard. Therefore triggering midi messages that are not wanted.
This isn't something with only my set up. You could see this for yourself if you use a mac and load the AU of Thesys.
No need to try to get midi out. Just as is, built-in synth, synced to host, and watch the lights showing midi being sent to the action pads, and onboard keyboard.
There has to be a way to stop this behavior.
I'm trying to work in Garageband more, so I need the AU to stop sending midi note messages to the GUI keyboard in Thesys, just while playing a sequence.
Just try it and see for yourself.
Use the AU version, and watch it lighting up the onboard gui Thesys keyboard(pitch-action keys)
edit: Sorry this problem only happens with using the extra bus1 AU workaround. Just realized this.

In Logic you have to take care that the Thesys track is not connected to 'sum' in the environment.
So you would have to connect your real physical midi device (or an unused IAC bus) to the Thesys track, and the Thesys IAC bus to the Track you want to control.
I am currently not sure how this can be done in Garage Band, i'll have to investigate.
Best,
Robert

Thanks for the help on this, as it's bothering the hell out of me.Sugar Bytes wrote:In Logic you have to take care that the Thesys track is not connected to 'sum' in the environment.

I did the same set up in Live8 also.
I do set the control to an unused bus1, that I created in the mac's midi utility preference. Then switch to it under the Thesys logo window. After that just using Thesys built in synth, play a sequence and the gui action-pitch-seq keys are playing the notes of the sequence, and that causes those action-pitch keys to trigger (light up) unwanted midi messages.
I know I can workaround this and to just output the midi track using vst in Live, then export import, but I simply shouldn't need to do all that.
What should the created bus1 have for input-output, when it's created.
Mine has 1 and 1 for those input-output windows. Maybe that's wrong.
I'll try making a new bus.
Thanks

I know that. I was just checking in Live, how to use the workaround for the AU, when I first bought it.Sugar Bytes wrote:Why do you use the IAC driver workaround in Live?mcnoone wrote:Thanks for the help on this, as it's bothering the hell out of me.

Just use the Thesys VST plugin and use the MIDI TO menu of the midi track to send midi to other tracks or to the hardware ports.
best
Rico
I now need to use it in Garageband. So I checked the AU in Live also.
It has the same problem in both.
Maybe you can just tell me what the new IAC bus should have in the input-output windows when it's selected and opened within apples midi setup. The window on mine has midi 1-in, midi 1-out. Is that correct?

In the audio midi setup you don't have to do anything special. so in1 out1 should be ok. You have to make sure that the IAC bus you are sending to won't send to the channel where Thesys is plugged in. I am currently not sure whether Live can configure this explictly.

Well I have it now, where that gui keyboard (action-pitch) does not get midi input from the sequence of notes. Until I press the record button in Live, when at that time the notes within the sequence will again be sent to the gui action-pitch keyboard.
So fail.
If you could post a screen shot of the i/o and track settings in Live using AU, and the record button armed, to output midi. That would help, as it might be how I have my i/o settings of the track set up that's causing this.
Thanks,
Michael
