Hello there,
I just wanted to try the ACE Demo and I found a Problem.
I knew ACE is CPU-hungry!
When I installed ACE Demo on my System and started Cubase 4 the ASIOmeter is going crazy even though I haven't started ACE yet!!!

So I thought: Wrong installation and uninstalled.
Tried Cubase -> No Problems ASIOmeter alright.

Installed ACE again - started Cubase - there's the Problem again - ASIO going totally crazy!

No other VSTi does that!

My system:
C2Q6600 - 4GB RAM - Windows 7 64-bit - Cubase 4 (newest)

I hope to find some help!

just to be clear!

is the vst loaded in cubase or just installed in to the vst folder to cause this?

also what is your ASIO device? (ASIO device or ASIO4ALL?)

your system should run ACE fine!

also is Cubase 64bit or 32bit? i read that the vst bridge to run 32bit plugs inside Cubase 64bit did not load ACE at all! (there was a fix for that using a 3'rd party free wrapper)

post as much info as you can & i'm sure between as all we will get this sorted :)

Hello and thy for your reply,
the ACE is JUST installed and NOT loaded!

I'm using Cubase 32bit on my Windows 63bit and have the newest 64-bit ASIO-Driver for my Mackie Onyx Satellite Audio.
The ACE itself runs fine but I have to set the latency to 2048 to just be able to play a key!

As said. As soon I uninstall ACE everything works perfect again but when ACE is installed the ASIO goes crazy. Tried it several times and this only happens with ACE.
Sylenth, HALion and SubBoomBass work perfect without any ASIO issues!

This has to be an ACE problem I'm afraid!

Thank you!

Hmmm, one of your components, most likely the driver, seems to get startled. Your system should run ACE just fine with components that can handle demanding VSTs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a 32 bit app need a 32 bit driver? not quite sure, but maybe that's the culprit here...

Hello Urs,

hmm... suddenly the problem seems to be gone after several
installations and I don't know why.

But:

If Windows is 64-bit the Hardwaredriver also has to be 64-bit.
Software can be 32-bit.
I read that several times in different forums.
Besides everything else WAS working fine except ACE and
only when ACE was installed!!
This happened about 10 times.

But it's working now and sounds awesome!!

Thank you!!

yea, host out to 32bit bridge to api stack, AFAIK (the bridge is just a extra layer from what i have read)

windows 64bit will not run 32 bit drivers but there is a 32bit app bridge that works rather well :)

its rather strange that just having ace installed would do this to your system?

glad its working now though :)
