:o :-o  Great score!

But that would mean it's perfect and there would be nothing left to enhance right? :-o

That's why I don't like 10/10 scores :hihi:

Post

Damn right! Congratulations to Urs for an amazing synth. And to think it's just the beginning...

Post

Well deserved.
This synth is beautiful in it's sonic abilities.
I'll give it an 11 out of 10. :wheee:

Post

I would give onle 9,9 of 10 :D the cpu-usage... great amazing synth, but in the arrangement max 2 instances usable till he thrills my cpu

But the ace is really one of the best softsynth in the last years, perhaps the best(based on the sound)

btw when comes the cm149? At the cm-website is there nothing to see from the new issue.

i like the fact that it takes up my CPU - i think that there is a new plateau of VA accuracy and that it demands a modern chip to do a better job than the old P4 range of instruments.. i also like that it didn't break my bank to purchase.. :)

Post

i have a modern chip^^ (I7 920 - 4x2,66ghz) but in a bigger porject-file, i can use maximal 2 aces(with complex melodies) and only with draft mode :? but, who wants good sounds, must accept the cpu-usage of ace. :violin:

Post

ok.. i guess i haven't stressed it enough or loaded multiple instances yet..

I like them nevertheless :hihi:

Congrats to Urs! I just got Zebra for X mas but I don't have ACE yet, but I think I'll fix that over the next month! :D

Post

what is this about not being able to use more than 2 ace instances over draft quality in an arrangement? i don't think so. i've got a project or two with 5+ instances doing percussive parts, synth, bass. one project is half bigtone and cfa sound, btw. i have a 2.5ghz intel coreii duo w/ 3gb RAM here. no problems. :tu:

p.s. i've not needed to freeze yet either. and unless you are running them all at once in an arrangement it should not be a problem with this much processing power.

ps.ps. Congratulations Urs. a well-deserved hi-score review. i hope it brings a few new customers!

If you mean you can only use 2 instances of ACE and only on draft mode, something is wrong with your CPU...

Post

Or you are stacking notes and using loooooong release times.
But I bet it sounds nice 8)

Please don't ruin the celebration by griping about the cpu drain of ACE again. It sounds good even at its lowest setting, and the amazing quality (goodbye aliasing on the high notes, hello depth and punch) has a price, one that is well worth it.

@Cyforce: there must be something wrong with your rig and/or setup. I've got a lowly Dualcore@2.1 + 2 GB RAM, and I can run 5 instances easily in an existing project (if I don't flip all the release times to maximum, that is).

Yes ACE is unbeatable in the sound quality department and also the UI is simply beautiful in my opinion.. The only problem I'm having is getting it to mix well with my other synths, it's sound so rich and detailed, and lush that all else sounds thin by comparison.. Oh well, to make a complex arrangement with ACE I guess I'll have to have a few computers linked together...

Ace is a window into the future sound of synthesis...
