Well...
As many of you probably know snapshots are the feature on Receptor that allows you to load all your plugins once, and then change between different plugins by muting/unmuting different channels. This is a great feature since it allows sound changes to happen instantly. However, it's somewhat limited in that you can only fill up Receptors 16 channels with sounds (or even less if your using Sample heavy plugins). What smart snapshots does it allows you to combine SOURCE program changes within your snapshots. For example in the past if you had 4 patches you wanted to use in your snapshot with a plugin like say...B4II then you'd have to use up 4 different Receptor channels to load all four B4II patches in your snapshot. With smart snapshots you use 1 channel for B4, and save different snapshot patches with the different SOURCE B4 patches loaded. As you change through the Receptor will call up different SOURCE patches, without reloading the plugin. Essentially it's an added feature to the normal functionality of snapshots that allows access to a lot more sounds.

Hi Kevin,
That is exactly what I need!
For some plugins, switching between programs can be quick (e.g. simulating synths like Mr Ray73mk2, VB3 or ZD6). So that can happen within a snapshot without problems.
But this is not yet supported on Receptor 2's, is it? Would be nice to have. If you add a mute sustainpedal checkbox in the midi settings of the source too I would be even happier...
(should not take too much effort I'd presume)
Best regards,
Fedde

I'm sorry, the answer is as confusing as the question to me. I have never seen the phrase "smart snapshots" anywhere other than this thread.
Is this a feature that exists on 1.8? Or, is it something Muse is working on for the future? Please clarify.

This is something that we are working on for the future. Right now it's not released on any Receptors, and it's unclear to me if it will be released on both older and newer platforms. Basically to describe them another way its like having a snapshot that allows you to change patches on individual channels (in addition to normal snapshot features).

Thanks, for the answer, Kevin.
That sounds like exactly what is needed on the Receptor. I understand that job #1 is always staying afloat (especially in this economy). But, I hope you can find a way to include it on the Rev C versions as well.

This would be a great feature for live gigs where you can hopefully get all the patch changes you need for a song with one button press. I hope the plan is to allow FX changes as well (also on the effects buses and master channel)
Right now I can simulate this feature on the axiom pro but it is limited to only 3 source/fx changes per snapshot.

I have set up my receptor to do something like "smart snapshots"
In the setup page set the program changes to target singles. Then create some single patches for your favorite vst (I have a few singles saved for B4 that respond to program change messages from my keyboard)
Now create a few snapshots within a bank of your favorite vst's that you have loaded into the mixer. If you keep your receptor next to you, you can change snapshots within a bank pretty quickly by using the knob on the receptor front panel, and within each snapshot you can select a few singles by sending program changes from your keyboard.
