Hi Urs,
just out of interest have you ever considered making a sampler?
I ask because I've been getting into sampling as of late, been spending a lot of time learning Kontakt and it's a great tool/instrument.
You can get some very interesting & surprisingly good results from building patches using sampled waveforms amongst other things.
I just cant help thinking that applying some of the U-he mentality to a sampler would produce fantastic results. Or maybe adding the option to load in samples as osc waveforms into Zebra?

You can already load sampled waveforms as osc presets..
check this..

i already am working on a preset bank wich contains just sampled waveforms of real instruments..
will be a combination of osc presets as well as my work on the patches itself..
cheers

A sampler has always been on my todo list.
I do have a phantastic concept for it, making it a *sampler* rather than a *playbacker*.
However, there were more urgent-to-me matters such as Uhbik, ACE and Berlin Modular. But the idea persists in the back of my mind. It'll eventually unfold, but probably not this year.
Cheers,
Urs

Please let it have key-tracking AM and or FM like shortciruit. I've been searching for a sampler that is still under development that offers these features but have yet to find one! Stuck using SC till then.

Well, this year is all about Uhbik-X, Berlin Modular and Filterscape. I promise to not touch Zebra at all, at least not unless it's a general thing such as 64 bit support.groundhum wrote:You left out Filterscape.Urs wrote:more urgent-to-me matters such as Uhbik, ACE and Berlin Modular.
I've secretly updated and tested Filterscape with all the new stuff and I'm pretty confident that I can for one thing put out a modernised version and on the other hand side maybe add some nice and nifty features. (I know I've been saying this for years but sheesh... it's been such a rewardingly steady product...)

The full Berlin modular suite is for THIS year, really?
Since Uhbik-X is a year late I was under the impression Berlin Modular was for early 2011 or even later.

Well, I sure hope that Berlin Modular is this year. The alpha of Bazille has been pretty mature, ACE XL is just a souped up ACE with a bit of extra spice and only L.u.s.h. needs a few more months of research and development.xx JPRacer xx wrote:The full Berlin modular suite is for THIS year, really?![]()

All the delays with Uhbik-X and so are due to some weird bugs that basically took me a good part of 2009 to fix. It was a devastating summer, it was all about code analysis rather than the fun of doing something creative. That's also why I neglected Zebrify a fair bit, e.g. it doesn't yet have presets and all (soon to be fixed).
However, I think that the codebase is in great shape now so I might be able to fully concentrate on new developments.
(and the current vacation helps too

I very much look forward to the day this happens!Urs wrote:A sampler has always been on my todo list.

The thought of sampling my hardware and loading the direct sounds into a U-he sampler/synth makes me very excited!!
**Edit**
Thanks Zork I just saw your post. If my understanding of that app is correct, then you load in a sound file and it re-interperates it into a Zebra osc preset. Is my understanding of this correct or am I way off?
Ideally I would like the ability to load the original sound straight in (not a conversion of it) and then have the option of looping a portion of it, say 4 cycles or something. Basically a synth which is also a highly capable sampler!

That's some fantastic news. I'm really looking forward to Uhbik-X

It would be nice to see a sampler module in zebra. It's practically screaming to get one. Something more on the creative side then a traditional sampler. Cronox comes to mind.

A proper sampler (not playbacker!) would be awesome. There's drum samplers and "sample manglers" and "sample resonators" and stuff, but I'd really like to see what you do with the concept. You seem to have a way of presenting complex things that makes them easier to digest mentally. Ideally something well suited to mapping chunks of a recording to notes as well as playing back chunks in different order but also being able to layer samples, all at will in a straight forward manner
No rush though, I'm looking forward to Uhbik-X primarily! If you update Filterscape, I'll probably have to demo it again. And if that happens, well I might realize I "need" it

I can be wrong but I'm pretty sure Urs mentioned somewhere that Zebra won't receive a sampling module because Zebra is about synthesis only.paradiddle wrote:It would be nice to see a sampler module in zebra. That makes sense, he said a similar thing about adding a compressor to the Uhbik bundle (that the suite is more geared towards modulation).xx JPRacer xx wrote:I can be wrong but I'm pretty sure Urs mentioned somewhere that Zebra won't receive a sampling module because Zebra is about synthesis only.paradiddle wrote:It would be nice to see a sampler module in zebra. The trick is to Zebrify everything.
