Which plugins don't work with Windows 7?

no, i would recommend to sort and ditch all those plug in and keep the updated one that work.

But I'd wholeheartedly advise switching.

The lags will catch up with upgrades some time this year.

Downloaded the latest (Vista) version from Korg's site and it installed without a hitch.

is that the KORG Legacy Collection (KLC-1) v1.2? in that case, i'd need to pay $15 for the upgrade from 1.1, which won't even install on my 64bit Win7 Home.

Why pay to get another version of what youve already got? meh, People who have 64 bit complain about getting plugs to work. The rest of us just make music.

Absolutely no problems with Win7 Pro x64 here. I use the 32-bit version of Reaper, but the 64-bit one has a wrapper for 32-bit VST's. Since I only have a total of one 64-bit VST, which is identical to its 32-bit counterpart, I just don't care

If you're going to leave UAC enabled (highly recommended for security), then don't install your plugins in e.g. "Program files", since you normally don't have write access there without elevated permissions. Install them to another partition or to your User folder (C:\Users\<yourname>). That way plugins can write to their folder if they feel like misbehaving in that way.

+ 1000 I installed Windows 7 64 Bit on separate drive last week and Im so glad I did because in a matter of two days it managed to kill my external drive and a brand new western digital caviar that it was installed on, it is the most overrated (at the moment) and unforgiving mother f**ker I have ever used. Back to XP 10 second boot can't complain at that.

looks pretty and reminds me of OSX but as a stable DAW OS for me no way..I didn't tweak it that much either.

It's not possible for the OS to "kill" a hard drive. Sounds like bad luck.

BTW if you had used an Amiga 500 and Protracker, the hard drive would not have failed because it doesn't have a hard drive. XP is too new and untested. It's only been out for 9 years after all.

Yeah, a failing hard drive has nothing to do with your operating system, your external HD would have failed in the near future even if you hadn't installed windows 7.

If you absolutely must have x64 then I'd point towards Vista SP2 and the proper tweaks to get rid of UAC, iexplore and other annoyances. I've extensively tried Win7 and chances are that you will run into trouble if you use a lot of programs/plugins.

Amiga's were good for games and pretty colours Jimmi. Atari STE, Cubase 3/Midex now your talking.

Your right might have been bad luck but somehow coincidental that it happened to both my new drive and my USB drive, never had anything like that with XP...on both occassions it happened after W7 crashed, also forgot to mention that my DVD drive went awol as well had to go into the registry to clear an entry in order for it to be recognised again.

If it's working for you then Im pleased for you bro but im not converted just yet and believe me I want to be but its more hassle than its worth to be in everyday use.

Im going to use the image I made of the now week old ruined drive and place it on the replacement that I should get soon.

for me at least, and a lot of others, it is ALL about the ram.
without more than 3.4GB, my tracks just dont work. and 64bit is the only way to get over that hump. simple as that.

OT, i just made the big Win7 64 switch, and im a bit of a plugin whore...
so far, every single plug in that ive installed and tested works just fine with no issues. ive had far more issues with old isntallers than the plugs themselves, so far.
and im not just using big name poplular plugs by any means. half of my stuff is home made freebie stuff from right here at kvr.

i am sort of right in the middle of the install/testing though, so this thread is scaring me a little.
i am fully expecting to find that at least one of my favorite favorites wont work...

audio aside, i still have only one complaint with W7, and its the 'windows-remembering-position' thing, and i think its ridiculous, and im waiting to see if i can get used to it.
i wont go back to anything 32bit though...
