that's an amazing plugin, I donate immediatly.
just 3 things ( sorry for my poor english...)

1 when you change the pattern size ( with ableton live and energy XT) from 16 to 2 for exemple, the direction chang from forward to backward. that's interesting, but it could be maybe more useful to keep the forward direction.

2 it's not possible actually to control via midi or automation the clear and the play button. that could be very interesting to control the play button, as his behaviour is not the same as the play button from the DAW. for exemple, if you use the play from daw, then stop and play again, the pattern begin from step 1. but if you use with your mouse the play button, from blip 2000 , it work like a pause button , and that really useful.it could be interesting then that blip's play button work even if the play from daw is engaged. ( for exemple with the play button from ableton live running, it's actually not possible to use the play button from blip 2000)

3 and for me the most important... please give us the possibility to have more than one pattern !  this tool is so intuitive, it's very sad to have just one pattern, and actually ( of course maybe I miss it) not really possible to do a full music with it without using mouse.

for exemple I remember than tatapoum ( created with synthedit) have a pattern system controlable with midi note and this works perfectly. the source are on google code

http://asseca.com/darkstar/ttp-ug/w-2.htm#Patterns

http://soma.asseca.com/wiki/Tatapoum/HomePage

http://code.google.com/p/tatapoum/

and I must admit I'm agree with the 3 octave range, it works perfectly but for more experimental stuff, it coud be useful to have more octaves.

thanks again for this amazing instrument and thanks for reading my awful english...

yes! really great one !
I've talk about you on our forum ( sensomusic.com)

I've try to donate , but curiously can't login on the paypal.de..?
so I've send you one directly from my paypal account ( as gift to a friend )
hope this will work this way..

btw , i second the 2 request of damstraversaz , could be really a big + !!

now, I've to test this on my touchscreen..( i've also work on a patch with Usine recently inspired my the monome , you can see a screenshot in our gallery..)

So that I can use this to make a rhythm and then edit and adjust it later in the piano roll? I'm not sure how to do it or if it's even a function of this particular plugin, but it's basically what I want out of it. Would definitely sway me towards buying it if I could export MIDI to the piano roll and didn't have to render to audio, etc. If the plugin can't do this at this time, consider it a feature request
The plugin outputs MIDI. Any DAW should be able to record that.
Please also read the readme.txt (!)
Also, can I make a couple of suggestions?
One is a button so that you don't have to change the note of every row if you want to try out higher or lower octaves...something that would shift all notes up or down.
You just send MIDI notes from your keyboard or another MIDI track to the plugin - it will transpose.
Please also read the readme.txt (!)
The other is to maybe have more than 3 octaves in there? Especially with a sequencer like this, I like to experiment with higher octaves to make sharper, blippier sounds.
See above.
edit: I also noticed in Cubase 5 that for some reason it always starts on the 2nd note (never the first), and the clock doesn't seem to reset if I move around the track. Not sure if it's supposed to or not, but it seems that it would be important.
Try to enable a metronome count-in/preroll/prerecord or start record not at the very beginning of the song but at 2.0.0 or so. The plugin uses a special clock module that should work - in the moment when the host sends the play-run status to the VST it will send it's first note. The plugin does NOT follow the song position. This is not possible, because one can automate the number of steps and the play direction, so the plugin would never no where to start in the middle of the song.

In Ableton Live 8 the nag screen stays forever, even if click on the logo a few time, even if a wait for minutes ...

Impossible to check this thing !

Did you connect it to something? Some hosts will only run the plugin with a connection or when play/record is pressed. (If the plugin is stopped from the host, the counter will never start to run.) It needs at least a MIDI output sending to somewhere. A MIDI input might be necessary, even no transpose will be used. The audio outputs are just for hosts that whont work with plugins that have only MIDI in/out. It is like a synth plugin, thats outputs MIDI.
In Reaper it's similar: "Run Fx when stopped" and "Dont flush FX" must be enabled (not only for my plugins).

Thanks again, got it now !

Maybe some of you can be interested , , here a discussion and example of patching in Usine with Blip..:

This is not intended but - I am afraid - is inside the step module and can't be changed. You can avoid this by changing the stepnumber excactly when the last step is playing. You will also here that this behaviour helps the sequence to stay in sync.

The play button was just to make Blip playing even the DAW is not playing (for adjusting a sequence). I must think about that, but maybe I would rather implement a mode where playing is controlled by a MIDI keyboard (incoming notes).

Maybe I dont exactly understand, but you can make 128 patterns in the VST presets. In the field where your DAW shows the VST presets, it should read "Major 16 Step" when you start the plug. there are 127 more presets selectable (most now empty I admit). And every host should be able to save the sequence preset as .fxp file.

Oh, and could you explain how you have set it up in Ableton(I don't know that host) - because some may have problems with that (the same happened to ma CLOCKWOrK - seems Ableton and some other hosts have problems with MIDI-sending plugins)

Cool thanks, I'll try it again. For the record, I did read the readme.txt (!) but maybe I'm just not getting something, as I'm not trying to hook up my MIDI keyboard to it, just trying to use it as a sequencer to jot down ideas and then do everything else in the sequencer from then. I didn't think about recording MIDI, as I don't normally need to do that...so I'll give it a shot.

Post

thanks for the answer !

for ableton, I just create a midi track, then send the midi out of this track to another midi track with a vsti. if you don't it the play button of Live, you are able to use the play button of blip 2000. each time you toggle this button, blip 2000 play or pause the pattern. if you push again the button, blip finish the pattern, like a pause button.
if you push the play button of live, then the play button of blip doesn't do anything. if you stop live engine, and push play again, then the pattern play but just from the begining.

about more pattern, i'm sorry, my english is so poor, that's hard to explain.the main idea is to chain pattern on the fly.I saw of course that it's actually possible to use FXP and programm change for moving from one pattern to another. but if you thinking to use blip as a live instrument ( which the best way to use it for me)there is a possible evolution.the best way to use blipin a song is in my opinion to make a pattern evolution, like with a tenory on, let me explain.
without touch screen, actually the only way to control the pattern evolution is to use the mouse( add and delet pad), and that's not the more intuitive tool in this case. or you can do midi learn on each pad ( but you will need to have...a monome for control it, as there is 256 pad).
an alternative could be to have more than one pattern in the same FXP, and the possibility to change pattern with midi note.
tatapoum work like this:
from c1 to b4 you play the sample slot individualy in tatapoum. for blip , it could be use for transpose as version 1.0 actually.
from c5 to c6, each time you press a key , it play another pattern, without using programm change etc. that's a very intuitive way to make music with sequence. black magic from Hgsound work like this too so it's possible with synthedit, and it seems that the source code of tatapoum is public.
this give the possibility to make music with evolution and to chain the pattern with a lot of flexibility for live use.

if you have time, try the tatapoum, instrument ( link on my previous post), and there is too the section of the manual for the pattern manager.it will be a lot more useful to test than to read my awful english :(
here is an exemple with pattern using program change. it works, but that's a little hard to use.that's really basic just an exemple with 3 program change

hope this help :?

Btw, i have problem for paying directly from paypal too ( from france).

What kind of problem? After clicking the button on my site, the Paypal login/payment page should appear after some seconds (standard Paypal buttons). I know that after payment sometimes the redirect to the download page does not work - I mailed Paypal already; seems to be with users who use Safari browser.
I think I have to move to ShareIt or so... (someone can recommend a good payment/download service?)

for info , i don't use safari, but firefox..
and I'm from France too, the problem came from the fact that your link open a German paypal and our password don't work..
