So is there no way to link the clock to the sequencer? It seems like because of this, along with the fact that it's not starting on the 1 for some reason, I'm not able to play a pattern, record it, and then create another pattern with a different instrument while the first one is playing since it will go out of sync...is this correct?

Is it really starting on the second step, that means the note(s) of the second step are at the start 1.0.0
Or do you mean it does not play the first step, leaving a pause there?

Maybe there is something to adjust in Cubase? (in Reaper, the plugin should be set to always run: "don't flush fx when stop" and "run fx when stopped" enabled)
Here are some hints i've found:
Cubase SE/SL/SX 3.1 and Nuendo 3.1 or later
* In Cubase/Nuendo, select "Devices Setup..." from the "Devices" menu.
* In the "Device Setup" window click on "MIDI > MIDI Port Setup".
* Installed MIDI ports should now be listed in the right part of the window.
* Enable the option "Use System Timestamp for 'Windows MIDI'." which you find beneath the listed ports. Depending on the installed MIDI driver "Use System Timestamp for 'Windows DirectMusic'." might also be available. Enable it, too. (If system timestamp already has been used unmark the option. In other words: Change the status of the "Use System Timestamp..." option.)
* Click on OK in order to close the Device Setup window and enjoy accurate MIDI data recording.

Cubase has been known to be wonky with plug-ins that have their own sequencers. d16 drum machines, Guru, etc. have had or have that issue at some time or another. I start my songs at bar 2, leaving the first bar blank or as a "count-in" bar, which may work for you.

I've set "sync mode: host tempo" and now "Time signature: ON:a" (was OFF before - but I don't understand exactly the meaning)

Great and fun app

When putting down dots i find that some kind of shift left or shift right could be nice so i can shift the pattern to start on the right beat when doing totally random dotting.

I made a quick demo MP3:
3 instances of Blip2000 with Piano, Bass and Drums, recorded "live" (no changes in the sequence notes, just playing with the speed, number of steps and direction). Plus little effects and mixing = 15 Minutes of "work"

I can't speak for others, but it usually takes me a while to evalute new plug-ins. I've been trying Blip5000; so far it's worked perfectly and has been fun to use but I'm not sure whether I really need it. I can assure you that if I decide to continue using it that I will make a donation.
