From user side: Supporting both SF2 and SFZ would be best. Also Akai format woud be great.
From technical side: These whishes are on the whishlist, but can't give an ETA about them at this point.

Hi Jo,
Indeed SF2, SFZ and AKAI would give a world of new samples/sampler stuff that could be used in MU.LAB.
How you would do this is beyond me. But if you could do this one day I think it would be well worth the effort. Very much a for the future thing R&D etc.

Hi I've only read about half of this discussion but i agree with much of what pljones is saying, SF2 is to me more of a plug-and-go format and I've never used sfz format just because it seems kind of generic, if I were to edit text files to make a sampler patch i'd rather just do it in a sampler, and still having to have the wavs in heaping piles in folders is such a mess really, SF2 is way more compact and convenient. I'm all for SF2 support though I like the format and the way i see it the more that MuLab can do the better and it wouldn't add any real complexity to the user experience.
In the future there will be robots!

wau pquenin, thanx for info, really good news, I like SFZ and SFZ+ (for fx panel)pquenin wrote:SFZ is old but works fine. And SFZ+ is now freeware.
I prefer SFZ because it also read SFZ format. SFZ+ is only a SF2 player.
they are really free now
But I prefer SF2

hi theorize, I prefer SF2 too, 1 SF "CLOSED"file is much comfortable, theorize wrote: SF2 is to me more of a plug-and-go format and I've never used sfz format just because it seems kind of generic, if I were to edit text files to make a sampler patch i'd rather just do it in a sampler, and still having to have the wavs in heaping piles in folders is such a mess really, SF2 is way more compact and convenient. Sorry dude, don't read your message before with (a lot of) attention
I respect quality, but PREFER or

Really not bright Distortion guitar = without EQ 2-4 Khz . So dude, it seems you really KNOW and understand REAL HARD guitar sound nuances !
Great !
Man, I'm just never say "wau" ( for politeness ) if sounds not good for me, because a people could say much dirty words at club later
I just don't understand this kind of music and can't be objective.sorohanro wrote: Well, let's say that I have quite many CD and vinyl discs.
When I really really like some music I try to get the CD if available.![]()
Now to make myself clear about quality and pop music. Go listen Lady Gaga's album The Fame Monster(2009) and then Pat Metheny's album The Way Up(2003-2005). Compare them as sound quality, how much detail is in Pat Metheny's album, how can you hear every instrument "breathing", how clear sounds everything without stepping on each other toes even that there are sometimes more than 20 different instruments(2003-2005)... And then technology evolved (2009) and we have 2 or 3 instruments with a drum and a voice, mixed aggressive and beside loud have no other quality.

I was born not in England too, so this is not a problemMaybe expressing ideas in English is not my best feature![]()
ThanxSo, yes, from this point of view I agree, Mu.Lab should have a sf2 player. That can be MultiSampla or a new player.

Sorry, didn't see this IMPORTANT NOTE "DRY".
I never pretended that I just made the next Ministry of Rock. As for "bright", as I wrote already in the description of the pack, it's "dry".
Haaa, you understand absolutely CORRECT that I meant.Beside distortion and amp have no effects, not even EQ, so you can (should) put your own low cut (or high pass) filter according to the bass sound you're using.
You can also "brighten" the sound by boosting EQ somewhere between 2 khz and 4 khz to get a bit more bite, a little boost a bit higher as well between 5-6 khz might work too but you should do that according to the voice and cymbals in your mix.

MU.LAB could have another plugin fo play SF2 files.
I agree, SAMPLA should be able to play soundfonts, but it doesn't matter that much.
I think there are more important things to do in MU.LAB than that.
VST SF2 player is fine.
