I read the Sylenth manual and I couldn't find the answers so I thought I'd give it a shot and just post here:

What are do the values mean for each of these parameters (Sylenth LFOs (Rates, Destination Amount, Gain)? As in how do their values act in proportion to the destination?

Let me try and make sense of this question.

Using the INIT patch. And setting a simple one oscillator patch with an LFO on the pitch.

LFO Rate: 8/1 Sine Wave
Gain: 10
Destination amount: 10

I'm assuming 10 = 100%. So what happens at 90%? or 80%?

At 100% It will cycle through All the octaves the oscillator can reach once every 8 bars?

What does D vs T mean?

I guess what I'm looking for is some sort of equation using those three numbers that I can plug to get desired results.

If I want to go up one octave, in 8 bars, between and E1 and E2... or If I want to end up on this note over this amount of time...

LFO Gain
If you set the modulation amount to exactly 1.0, then if the Gain is 10, it will modulate the pitch with exactly 1 octave. So if you want to modulate it only 2 notes for example, then you should set the Gain to 2/12 * 10 = 1.67, because there are 12 notes in 1 octave.

If you want to shift the pitch with 4 notes, then you should take 4/12 * 10 = 3.33, etc..

LFO Offset
When you set Offset to 0 and Gain to 3.33, this means it'll shift 4 notes in total: 2 notes up and 2 notes down. You can set the Offset to 10 to change this to 4 notes up and 0 notes down, or set the Offset to -10 to make it 4 notes down and 0 notes up.

LFO Rate
The LFO syncs to the bar setting. A setting of 8/1 means one LFO cycle is spread out over 8 bars. Since a bar contains 4 beats, one LFO cycle is 32 beats long in this case.

T and D stands for Triplet and Dotted. A triplet is 2/3 of the length, while dotted means 3/2 of the length. So a setting of 2/1 means one cycle every 2 bars (or 8 beats), a setting of 2/1T means 2/3 * 2/1 = 4/3 bar (or 16/3 = 5,333 beats), a setting of 2/1D means 3/2 * 2/1 = 3 bar (or 12 beats).

Is there a resource where I can learn these types of settings and values? I have a lot of questions in regards to all the amounts and settings including the ADSR Mod envelopes too... This information is not included in the Sylenth manual right?

For example:

Trying to visualize what happens when I apply a mod envelope to the pitch with a destination amount of one and the decay turned up to 7. Why does it pitch down?

Been thinking about it and I think I figured it out.

Does the destination amount set the total amount of pitch bend... either up or down? So at 1 it'll pitch up one octave? Then setting the ADSR controls how it moves from that initial pitch bend up down to the original note?

That's right, at 1.0 it'll pitch up 1 octave and at -1.0 it'll pitch down 1 octave. The ADSR controls the shape of the pitch envelope.

Hi!

Thank you for that post. Its very useful.

I now understand every part of LFO section.

What we need now is more waveforms in LFO (and OSC) section. (Wavetable waves would be great) ;) And the LFO syncs like 16/1 :love: That would be great!

I have a LFO-related question.

Unfortunately I still can't afford Sylenth, so I'm using the demo, where only one LFO is avaiable. I want to make the rate slower than the minimum, can I achieve that by somehow LFOing the LFO? You know, LFO 2 to LFO 1... I don't know if that's even possible on any synth, is it?
