I've been working on some short punchy patches for Zebralette, for my pattern sequencer. I've wondered about this before, so I thought maybe I should finally ask. :?

Since Zerbalette is a one oscillator synth, why are there phase and Sync (SyncTune really) parameters? Having only one oscillator, the phase should only matter at the very start of a fast envelope. And Sync/Reset..., sync to what?

And Urs, is Zebralette really any more efficient than Zebra (loading the same preset of course)?

Thanks for any enlightenment!

Zebra oscillators can sync to themselves, so can Zebralette I assume.

What mcnoone said + Zebralette is a *tiny* bit more efficient than a 1-Osc Zebra patch. But that's pretty neglectible IMHO.

Thank you both. I'm gonna have to think about the sync part before I 'Grok' it.

Sync is only really useful if you modulate the parameter with an mod source. Just turning the knob and leaving it will make it sound as if the pitch of the osc has increased. It does change the sound color somewhat but I find it much more useful when movement is applied.
