Hi Lennard,

Recently I ran into an issue with Cubase and Sylenth, and thought it was a Cubase issue. So I contacte their tech support and asked my question, they suspect that multiple instances of this plugin cannot be opened. Now I know thats rubbish, but I wanted your take on this before I get back to them if thats ok.

The problem is as follows :
I opened an instrument track of Sylenth1, created a pad, and played in the notes I wanted.

Then decided to duplicate the track, for the 2nd section and made some slight changes to the sound. All good so far.

I then went back to the original one, and wanted to add a LFO to the pan, and that went in ok until I play back. The LFO I setup just disappears. Its basically resetting Sylenth to the state it was before I duplicated it.

I have just been testing it to find out the possible cause, and it is Automation. I have the filter cutoff automated, and that is set to R (read) I then add to LFO 2 in sylenth PAN AB which is fine until I hit the play button on the transport bar, then the PAN AB in the LFO box just disappears. But it stays if the automation is disabled.

So how would the automation be reseting the changes I made after duplication ?

Thats what I asked them too.

Thanks for your help :)

This is indeed an automation problem in your track. You've probably accidentally automated the LFO destination parameter, so it changes back from "Pan AB" to "-" when you hit play.

Just rightclick a track in Cubase and select "Show All Used Automation". Then you can see which paramters are automated (blue) and remove the automation.

Another possiblity is that you've recorded a Midi CC that is linked to the LFO mod destination. Click "Reset All" on Sylenth1's right top corner to reset the Midi control links to their defaults (which doesn't link to the LFO dest).

By the way, if you duplicate a track in Cubase, you are duplicating only the midi track, not the instrument. Both tracks will use the same instrument until you add a second Sylenth1 instance and link it to your duplicated track.

I think you are right Lennard, thank you. I must have somehow automated the PanAB to - as I just tried it again from scratch and it didn't happen.

I have no clue how I did it before, and I can't even make the same forced mistake.

Anyway, thanks :) Problem solved :)
