I modified the circle meters I posted so that it is 100% knobman, meaning I did the wood background in knobman, I also did some touching up to it with texture etc. If you download the file you'll need to load the textures into the correct folder prior to opening the .knob file, and read the info file if you don't have the fonts. It takes a few monents to load since they has 58 layers or so each.

emulating Wave's Maserati meter with just knobman, 78 layers, knobman does a fairly good job doesn't it. still a few funny things there that would need to be fixed, such as the bottom half of the inner cirlce of meter that appears to tilt outward, the outer rim of the wood around the meter would need to be changed a bit to make the bevel correct etc etc but since its an emu that I could never use I didn't trouble myself with fixing them.

Interesting, small but small in just the right way.

Here's my first experiments with knobman... any tips from seasoned knobman vets appreciated! I have not made these for anything in particular, but just as an attempt to get used to knobman in general.
After this, I'd like to try my hand at buttons, glossy knobs and faders!
The download link is posted above each image and there are absolutely no restrictions on using these knobs:

I was about to make the same comment as WOK over in the NI forum concerning the size I can't recommend this advice enough. I try to work at the size I am going to use the result are much better, much of the fancy details will be lost when you reduce the size and many will look incorrect when reduced in size.WOK wrote:These are looking quite good, but you should make them smaller from the start, because resizing later sometimes causes unwanted effects and necessary postprocessing in Knobman.

absolutely
but you can try to work at x2 for more convenience
and use a bitmap editor like photoshop for the excellent resizing algorithm.
filter/sharp can do the trick too.

elxicano > Looks really good. I would, as WOK and Hlis already said also recommend to work 1:1 scale because when resizing stuff it tends to gets wonky.

Thanks Limeflavour, novaflash, Hlis93 and WOK.
I definitely see what you all mean. I just reduced the SimpleKnob to 32x32 and saw that I lost all the subtleties that initially liked. I can refine it enough to get them all back, but I take it that's the extra work you are talking about?
Can anyone suggest a good standard size to work with? I'm doing this for my own personal usage in Reaktor (which I'm still just beginning to grasp). I would pretty much just be replacing the default buttons, knobs and faders... nothing too extreme for now.

That really depends on what kind of gui you're doing.
In my Oatmeal skin I had to go down to 20x20px because of the huge amount of knobs and not wanting to have a multipaged gui.
Something around 40-50px is enough for me, but it all depends on what size you want the gui to be and the amount of controls.

I have never be happy with the reults of doing that, imho things just never look right when reduced. For the longest time I did everything big then used psd to shrink I was never happy till I start to work at size, then I know exactly what I have.novaflash wrote:"I try to work at the size I am going to use the result are much better, much of the fancy details will be lost when you reduce the size and many will look incorrect when reduced in size"

If I cant get it to look good at the size I need in knobman I go straight to photoshop, well that happens anyway depending, I have used knobs straight out of knobman, however most of the time I'll use knobman to fleshout an idea then do it psd, leaving only the animation for knobman, the layer styles in psd tend to allow for greater manipulation.
