No. In parallel signal is affected twice(it's split for two parts, one signal goes into filter 1, second into filter 2, so you will get independent filters)

Yeah, but since it's the same sound and supposedly goes into the same mix, they will add up to create the same frequency response as if it was one channel serially filtered. No?

No. In parallel, if one filter set to Comb filter and second to BP filter, you will get the sound, which is just mixed together(Comb+BP). Same filter configuration in serial brings you other result: BP filter will shape Comb filter.

Parallel mode is very useful, if you will pan filters in different direction, one to the left, second to the right). You will get really big sound. Good synths like Largo, Massive, Zebra have this feature.
