Q Regarding v1 Receptor

Hi,
I'm considering getting a v1 Receptor, would appreciate any answers to the following q's;
I own NI Kontakt 2/3 and NI Komplete Synths - will I be able to authorize and run these on the Receptor?
Multiple outputs via ADAT: is this possible? (SOS review mentioned it would be available "later").
Am I correct in believing there is a total of 3 possible analog mono inputs (front panel mono, rear panel stereo)?
Also, are additional inputs available via a usb interface?
Ideally, I'd like to use the Receptor as the core of our live setup - vocal mic thru fx, 3 guitars (thu amp sims and fx), + midi-controlled VSTIs, then all output on separate channels via ADAT->analog converter (Behringer ADA8000).
Thanks for any information.
Cheers,
sk

SK,
You are correct about the 3 inputs. Also ADAT is available for multiple outputs. In addition you can get another stereo channel of i/o through spdif connection. However, an external USB interface will not work.

The ADAT optical carries 8 mono channels. You can use either the S/PDIF or analog I/O, not both at the same time. With the analog you have 3 mono ins, and 2 with S/PDIF.

Actually,
If clocked correctly you can use both spdif and analog at the same time, and then spdif output can be configured seperate from the analog outs (meaning it doesn't have to mirror your analog outputs or ADAT ouputs!)

On my Rev B, I recall seeing the S/PDIF I/O go inactive if I selected the analog I/O, but this may have only applied to the front panel input. I have not been able to confirm this by actually trying it. Sorry if I gave incorrect information - I usually like to try things out before posting...

I experimented with this setup myself before I bought an outboard mixer, and I remember that I was not happy with the latency...it was especially noticeable with vocals. It also depends on your monitoring situation and how much you will be pushing the Receptor with FX and other plugins. You can hope that this plan will work for your situation, but make sure you have a plan 'B'.stk wrote:I'd like to use the Receptor as the core of our live setup - vocal mic thru fx, 3 guitars (thu amp sims and fx), + midi-controlled VSTIs, then all output on separate channels via ADAT->analog converter (Behringer ADA8000).
My guess is that you need 'live' equipment for a 'live' application.

I'm starting to think I might be pushing it to expect all I need from the Receptor (particularly v1).johnrule wrote:I experimented with this setup myself before I bought an outboard mixer, and I remember that I was not happy with the latency...it was especially noticeable with vocals. If I had the cash to burn, the Open Labs units look pretty rad, although for the time being I think I may be building a new live rig out of a Mac Mini with a cheap touchscreen (which is a henious pride-swallowing excercise for me
