Help me to set up Receptor2 w/ two controllers

Hello there,

I'm a new Receptor2 owner, and needing some help for setting up midi connections.

-I'm using Doepfer PK88 as main controller this ones sends midi channel 1 and goes to Receptor midi IN. Works naturally great already.

-I'm building a custom made controller keyboard (Fatar keybed+Doepfer MKE midikit: http://www.doepfer.de/MKE.htm) to an analog synth. This one I'd be using, in addition to play analog synth, to send midi channel 2 to Receptor. -->so would I need a midi merger box or something to sum the midi send from both controllers and send it then to the Receptor midi IN--> and can the midi merger keep the channels (1 and 2) separated?

Or is there any other solution? I know Receptor has USB midi in, but if I have understood right, the Doepfer MKE does have typical (DIN) midi ports, and also Receptor USB midi IN don't necessarily work with Doepfer anyway.

Does this make any sense ? :)

Best,
-Vm

This is what you want ~ it's simple & stable; I've been using it for years with my Receptor and another rack unit with 2 controllers.

you don't have to worry

"MKE is equipped with Midi In and Midi Out. The data appearing at the Midi in are merged to the data generated by the MKE. Consequently several MKE can be daisy-chained or combined with other OEM controllers (e.g. Pocket Electronic, Dial Electronic, CTM64 , MTC64) to built a custom-made Midi controller.
"

So, just daisy chain your midi = midi out from PK88 to midi in of MKE, midi out from MKE to your other stuff incl. receptor. You don't need a merger.

BTW: I used a LMK2+ for 15 years, great keyboard. I was about to get a DM3 from dopfer, but ended up with a Novation SL 61MKII instead. Also uses Fatar keys/mechanics, and I guarantee you that you get a better control over receptor parameters than using MKE. However, the MKE control is not bad at all, just very limited like the LMK.
