ACE LFO timing drifts in Logic 9.1.1

I'm running ACE under Logic 9.1.1 on OS X 10.6.2. I find that LFO 2 drifts out of sync with the song tempo after a number of bars, on a long sustained note. For example, if LFO 2's waveform is set to square, sync to 1, phase to 50 (default), mtply to 1, and the project tempo is 63, then after about 8 bars or so the edge of the waveform has audibly drifted away from its original position with respect to the start of a measure. I first noticed this when using the mapper as the waveform, but upon trying it with a square wave, found the same behavior.

drift is Off, as are all the circuit-bending parameters on the tweak page. I'm using a stack depth of 1 and tuning for the single voice is set to 0. I'm not having any audio breakup, and the cpu meter is not showing very heavy utilization.

I can post an example patch if it would help.

Anyone else notice this?

Hmmm... I can see that it would drift after a while, but not after 8 bars already. Hmmm...

An example patch would certainly be great.

No problem. Here's the one where it's the most noticeable. This one uses the mapper as the waveform for LFO2.

As I mentioned above, I find the same thing happening, but to a lesser extent, with a square wave in LFO2.

The tempo of the project I'm testing this in is 63bpm.

Thanks,

-Luddy

I'm also experiencing LFO sync drift in Logic 9.1.1. (Drift is OFF, no circuit bending etc...)

Any progress with this?

K.

Post

I'm trying to fix it with the next update, but it's not an easy surgery.

For now I'd recommend using the trapezoid envelope / Ramp Generator for host synced operation. This one has a really good sync lock (but it's retriggered with each key for each voice)

Post

Thanks for the quick response - I too was trying to use the mapper as a clocked modulation source for pitch and filter.
The Trapezoid Envelope does sync fine now that I've sussed out the right values.

Enjoying ACE very much.

Ah... you can use a Ramp as the source of the Mapper and achieve the same effect as Tap The Map in LFO2. Only, in LFO2 you can of course go up into audible range.
