Hey all,

Having my last windows workstation prove to be a real piece of refuse finally pushed me over the edge, and I've switched to a new mac pro running snow leopard, and logic. I'm now trying to get set up and functional again in the new environment, including reinstalling all of my instruments.

I looked in my Sugar Bytes account and saw that there were mac OSX versions available for Thesys, Consequence, and Artillery, which I then downloaded and installed. The installations seemed to conclude successfully.

However, I cannot seem to find these plugins when I open Logic. They do not show up as instruments in the I/O field of an instrument channel, nor do I see them as available effects on a mixer track.

Being new to the mac side, I assume I may be missing something simple, but since I'm missing it I have no idea what it may be. :D Can somebody please offer me some ideas? If indeed the plugs installed successfully, how should I be able to find them from within a Logic project?

thanks in advance,

Look into the Midi controlled effect menu on Logic (should be right under 3rd party intruments.
You'll have to route some audio to it throughthe side chain menu on the top right of the plug-in.

You will need to rescan you plugins folder.
To do that check the help menu.
You will also need an extra midi bus created under your midi setup utility program. To do this.
Read the included manual with Thesys, as it has a page on "Logic AU Workaround".
You simply have to read that for you to use them in Logic.

So, does the plugin folder not get rescanned by default when Logic is opened? I don't recall having to manually rescan when I installed the spectrasonics or u-he plugs -- I thought I had just reopened Logic.

I did attempt to follow the instructions in the "Logic AU Workaround" but it fell apart at the "Create a Software Instrument Track and insert Eloquence (choose under I/O AU Instruments/Sugar Bytes/Eloquence Stereo)" step, because I'm not seeing Sugar Bytes/Eloquence in the I/O AU instruments menu.

I'm not at my computer now, but when I get home I'll try the manual rescan, and see if that works.

Thanks for the responses,

So, if the install finishes successfully, should I be able to see the plugins in the Audio Units Manager, whether it considers them validated or not?

I do not, and the reset and rescan does not change anything.

I'm having a similar problem installing a MeldaProductions plugin, while Omnisphere, Trilian, and Zebra installed effortlessly. It's possible that these were installed in Logic 9.1, while the software has since updated to 9.1.1. But I can't think of anything else that would be different.

Any ideas how I might go about debugging this problem?

thanks again in advance,

UPDATE:

Following up on that idea, I loaded a Logic 9.0.2 session, and the autoscan at startup correctly detected all of the plugins which had not so far been detected in the Logic 9.1.1 autoscan (Artillery, Thesys, Consequence, Albino, Mdrummer).

NOW when I start a 9.1.1 session I can see them, apparently now that they've been recognized once. I don't understand it, but I'll take it. :D

Thanks all for the help,
