Would be a viable question if someone actually owned one.

And while i'm at it, the "so called" company man Kevin gave me the excuse why no one has actually gotten their guitars is because hundreds of them, as it seems, has been sent out to reviewers and the like before any paying customers get theirs!

I ask you, if there were waiting, paying customers, why then give your only stock to reviewers? If all these reviews are reviewing the midi guitars...where are they?
I don't see anyone new at YouTube demoing the guitar. Last I looked at the YRG site, there were no new links.
If anyone reading this is a gamer and has seen reviews on the YRG in game publications, would you pls post the link(s) here? Thanks.

So far the YRG company has done little to settle our sagging excitement for the guitar.
My relationship with them so far has been one based on lies.

One thing that haunts me is when they say in their warranty that there can be no returns after the guitar has been taken from it's plastic wrap. In other words, if you test it to see if it works , and it doesn't...your f**ked. (the quote from the site is somewhere in an above reply post I made.

For your convenience;

We cannot accept returns of certain items, including:
- Any product that has been opened (taken out of its plastic wrap)."

this guitar doesn't exist

Your right, not at the moment it doesn't...for the majority.
I just went to the You Rock Guitar site and see Kevin CEO, has posted as of yesterday March 30th.
You say GREAT..what important info has he chosen to share with all of us excitedly awaiting our midi guitars?
Well calm down, what he chose to post was a "watch this vid" of a guitar teacher who actually has been sent a YRG. Watch him play the internally generated sounds within the guitar, not outputting any midi to an external generator, and watch him 'softly' finger pick the strings in a non-rock style.

When Roland demo'd their midi guitar system, they always showed soft finger picking style ala Beatles white lp. This was a way to cover up how badly the pickup and conversion tracked played notes.
I own the Roland, I know how hard it is to lay down a spontaneous track.

Kevin, in one e-mail asked me if I would make a video demo of the YRG. I of course wrote back YES! I never got a reply since then from him and now see Kevin, or someone, chose this guy to do the Roland smoke-screen test.

There may be a vid on that page which will show a normal rock picking style, I haven't watched any yet. But now since i've seen the Roland smoke-screen used by YRG, i'm concerned the midi design is another flop like all the others...a big disappointment.
http://www.yourockguitar.com/

EDIT:
I looked for ANY You Tube vid that shows ANYONE playing the YRG in a normal solo picking style, or even strumming for that matter, while using an external sound generator...in other words, the YRG's midi output.

I have only seen the one new vid from the YRG site. If no one is making vids, no one has the guitar. If there are no non-roland smoke-screen demos this points to the guitar NOT being able to be used satisfactorily as a midi guitar controller.

I'll sleep on it ,then cancel my order.

After reading online reviews I questioned the VELOCITY/SENSITIVITY of the YRG. If anyone has any input on this please share. But then I found the quote below yesterday:

"Cliff (Elion, President of Inspired Instruments) and I did a MIDI guitar in the 80's called the Photon Guitar, it had infrared pickups and hexaphonic pickups. It was $1,300," said Kent. "It kind of puts it into perspective that (the You Rock Guitar) is 200 bucks, and we keep adding and adding and adding features. This week we're adding velocity tables so it will be different velocity table for playing acoustic guitar than it will be for electric guitars.

Post

Yeah. That was one of my concerns when I started the old YRG thread.
Kevin wrote me back saying velocity was incorporated.

It's sad but true.

The writing is on the wall.

There are about 6 people who are in videos playing this thing. I'm not at all impressed with what i'm seeing.

Actually, I originally wrote something different but have now edited this post to tone it down, as music is subjective, and i'm not going to go there.

your move.

They won't get rich on preorders. Products in this market have changed little in recent years, so something new, at $200-$300, compared to $600-$6,000, for Roland/axon/ztar, will be good news, if they work well enough to record in Reaper or Garageband, or augment the tired gear of local cover-bands.

A product rollout from giants like m$oft, apple, sony etc is frought with difficulties,
so my bet is the 'little guys' are setting a deal with some mega-chain-stores, that funds production as part of distributorship guarantees.

I'll be in front of the first chainstore it arrives at by 3 A.M ...with my lawn chair, McMuffins, coffee, mp3 player etc etc

(but that Baby-Z sure is tempting :hihi: )

Please watch this very straight forward MIDI guitar demo using the MIDI guitar. Maybe other smoke is in your eyes or maybe you don't like Germans or Mozart.

You Rock Guitar is a hi-speed, no latency MIDI guitar for under $200. This guy has had one in Germany for about a month.

By the end of May there will be thousands and thousands all across the world.

BTW - This jam was the last day of NAMM and was all the You Rock Guitar and one freaking great saxman.

Thousands of people played it at the shows. Keep those muffins warm. And BTW you can plug in your MP3 player and jam too.

Note when these guys are riffing together at the end, not how there is no smoke no mirros just fast as can be playing with two great artists, It's about the music. You forget its a $199 guitar rather quickly when it is all music. The background jam track is preset 11. Blues in C. But Karl does not need to play in You Rock Mode.

The price keeps going up everytime I check back. They swore it was gonna be $149. Then $179. Now what is it up to, $229 or something?

Assuming it has good, adjustable velocity scaling, palm muting and clean hammer-ons and instant note-off on hand damping, and tracks fast and clean, it'll be worth it.

On devices like the this, the devil's always in the details. If it can do what a $1,000 Roland hex system can do but even faster and vastly cheaper, I'm in.

The endless delays, price inflations and very odd demoing styles are troubling, though.

The sax jam shows it will hold its own as a guitar accessory, its real strength will be
triggering multiple softsynths and fx, whose sounds are carefully chosen and properly
layered/effected. I may get a Rig Kontrol just to augment the U-rOK with various other
produckts. Cheers :)

Hi,

New user here. Some people have been asking whether the You Rock Guitar supports midi velocity, myself included.

There is a relatively new video on youtube that looks pretty close to proof that it does. Certainly perks up my interest anyway.

Now, if they could just ship the darn things, that would be good :)

Enjoy.
