Changing program on stage...help

Hi,

First of all, sorry if there's this kind of topic already, I didn't find the info I'm searhing.

I'm using Doepfer PK88 (http://www.doepfer.de/pk88.htm) with Receptor 2, and since there's no any midi cabalities, would this: Tech 21 Midi Mouse (http://www.tech21nyc.com/products/effec ... mouse.html) do the job, when all I wanna do is to change Multi or Snapshot patches? Or would there be any other suggestions?

My Receptor is too far away from me on stage, so I have to stand up and go to the machine every time now .

That might suit you well.
Another thing to look at would be a midi solutions event processor plus.
Very easy to program with the included software - and you can, for instance, set it up so that if you are holding the lowest note on the keyboard down, a range of other keys can send program changes. Or any number of other things of your choosing.

A VERY good solution for you would be a used Peavey 1600x. This would sit
on top of your Doepfer, and give you buttons, faders, and pedal jacks, all very programmable. So you could use the buttons for program changes, the faders for real time control of parameters, etc. It has midi merge functionality, so you could send the midi from your keyboard into the Peavey, then from the Peavey to the Receptor.

How do you find the action on the Doepfer? I was looking them, but read some bad reports about the consistency of the velocity response and got scared off...

Doepfer has Fatar keybed in it. I like the action, though it's matter of taste I guess, but I wouldn't say there's any problems in the velocity or something like that.

Actually or the first time I'm thrilled to play virtual piano having PK88 and Ivory Upright piano (modern one) in Receptor. I can play very dynamic and expressive.

PK88 has, in my opinion quite heavy action, which I like. Also it has been reliable too: have been playing it almost every day for past 5 years and no problems.

I have one of these Midi Processors Plus, but I have never really spent much time on it and thus never really used it... What you are describing here seems very interesting. How do you program it to get that result?
I'll try to take a look at the manual to know more about it, but I would appreciate if you could bring me some light on this!

Another option is something like the Korg nano series - if all you need is 12 presets per set, use the nanoPad and program the pads to send pgm changes. Four 'scenes' X 12 pads, and cheap. There are a couple other companies doing similar things, Akai LPD8 has knobs and 8 pads...
