flick through to 'heart of platinum' demo

that 'tight kit' is the sound i'm after.....

i'm wondering how close i can get to that sound with this new gb
Abbey Road is its own animal. A good deal of their equipment is hand-made "EMI" gear if I am not mistaken? Also, their rooms have a unique tone. If you want THAT sound, I would just go for the NI kit. No sense disappointing yourself with a mimicked "in the feel of" when you could have vintage style drums actually recorded AT Abbey Road ;)

Less is more sometimes :)
i hear ya....my issue is that i can't play them.....i switch back and forth between the squids demo and the NI tight kit demos.....to my ear, the snare in EPIK, and kit in general is a lot more 'toppy'......

the snare needs to be quite thin, but maybe the abbey has just enough extra body to seal...but it's too close to call.....

it might default to abbey because i won't be able to buy for a while....

i'm really torn.....i like the abbey interface style but i like the fact that keeping it all SR will give me the benefits of switching things up.........

it will come down to price, timing and whether i can get to hear more of the SR kit, especially if it ends up costing as much as the other EPIK 'a la carte' stuff

the other thing, related to what you said, is that i have every intention of cutting all room ambience, mic bleed....i want a sound so DEAD that i'll have to dig it up from the ground rather than instantiate it.....so the authenticity of room doesn't have much bearing on me

after downloading the zips and dragging the zip files into the Infinite Installer, do I still need to keep the original zip files or can I delete them from my harddrive. (i know that I wasn't supposed to unzip the files myselfs -- just need to know if I have to keep the zips around after everything.)
KEEP THEM man, thats what you will need to install them again if you ever have a HD fail or need to reinstall your OS!! Or you could always DL them again but that would suck!!!

or get the backup DVDs... then you can delete them off of your hard drive. You don't need them after you've finished installing. And the DVDs are free this time (well, you pay $10 for shipping)...

Not aware of that issue? All I know is that in the very beginning of the 1st GB the IP installer had a little problem so they released a new one a few days after the GB...I have no clue about any other problems and I don't know what "file/folder heirarchy" is! :D But I could be wrong as usual , if so I would like to know also!

whatever will fix the 'i click on the instrument and it hunts in vain for samples' problem that I'm having and that I thought other people were having too.

:)

i take it things are working fine for most people though.... if I were more computer savvy, i'd fix it myself but i don't want to mess up me mac.

:D :D :D

btw, have you tried 'search filesystem'? that has been working for me, even when the patches are in the wrong place (I've been moving stuff around)...

In the USD1 thread a couple ppl that buy things frequently from esoundz said that all their esoundz files stayed in their my soundz for YEARS. So I would delete them and then if ya get the time and a DVD, then go ahead and dl and burn em'.
