Two ways to explore:
a) In Kontakt: display the Mixer, make sure that each drum kit piece is routed to its own Mixer channel (create them if needed) and drop the faders on the other Mixer channels,
Uh, I meant a solo button. Give me some credit.
DarkStar wrote:b) In Kontakt, , route each Mixer channel to a different VSTi audio output; in your host route the VSTi audio outputs to different audio tracks, then you can solo the ones you want in your host.
Bingo! I should have thought of that. Not that I know how to do that yet.

Great! Very helpful. Thanks so much.

A question for anyone: Does the paid version of Kontakt have solos on the mixer's outputs?

Thanks!

No mutes or solos on the mixer channels.

Okay, the Multitrack kits have been updated. You just have to redownload the Multitrack kits you chose is the only thing... sorry about that. Harder to update those with a global patch update since each person has a different choice. But they've been updated with subtle fixes (and Motown kit references samples correctly).

I am going to get something to eat... Brazilian. I'll be back a few pounds later.
Hey Squids! I have a really good blond joke pertaining to Brazilian, if you are interested.
I requested a tech support from Allen, but did not hear back from him. I know he's extremely busy right now, and I've already told me to put me on the back burner until the group buy is finished up and everybody's taken care of. I just wanted to know if I can opt for the Dvd option, and have you toss it in the box with the Epik Drums Dvd?
Thanks,

you will be LOVING things like tom slots and cymbal slots...
I have to say that I fell in love with this feature the other night. I didn't really know what it was useful for until I used it (maybe not even the intended use for it).
I was playing my e-kit (which has 6 toms) and loaded up a kit with only 3 toms which ended up being mapped to the last 3 toms of my e-kit. Leaving 3 dead ones to skip over whenever I wanted to do a fill. By flipping each tom to a lower 'slot' (ie from slots 4,5,6 to slots 1,2,3) I was able to move them to the first 3 hardware toms very quickly. Very slick!

As nice as that feature is, I then realized I could leave the toms where they were and just load roto-toms into the first 3 pads and I had to visit the bathroom for a few minutes. :o
Yep! You got it. That is exactly what those slots are for! So you can just slot in the whole tom with all its articulations set up and everything... but instead of having to load different mapped versions it essentially has FOUR V-Drum map options, 6 GM map options ready to go by just selecting the slot you want it to be in... it couldn't be FASTER to move things around in Kontakt! I love this feature too... again another one for being able to create your OWN custom hybrid kits or layouts. Since we all have different taste and set ups this is IDEAL to learn how to do this but while some can't wait for us to show this on video... all you have to do is also grab it and do it. The results are instant. On GM the only non-intuitive but powerful feature there is the "Set Articulation"... I actually wanted that to default to Center but you actually have to "set it" sometimes to either Center or Rim... not a big deal but some people scratch their heads on that one understandably... but then again, it is COOL that you can choose center or rim so that you can decide to make a GM kit that has 3 toms but with center AND rim (load it twice and set one to center and one to rim - each assigned to adjacent slots). That is not something you can usually do in GM so it is nice to be able to spruce GM up a bit with some more expression.

Anyway, back to V-Drums, so you have the 4 tom slots but for your AUX inputs of your V-Drum you can assign CUSTOM midi learn toms or percussion or anything else... oh yeah, we have Signature Percussion coming soon by the way! A GREAT add on to this.

There is. It is a Quick Start Guide that tells you exactly how to install everything. It comes with the Infinite Player installer. You unzip that first because you'll need all of the contents and that guide to get going. But then, as it says in the guide, do NOT unzip the kit samples and patches. Those you drag and drop onto the Infinite Library Installer (which comes with the Infinite Player installer) and follow the directions.

For convenience, this quick start guide is in the news section of your member's area of esoundz as well.

I have not gone through all of the kits yet, as I got home from work late and pretty much have to dive into bed...

But...The Bill Bruford kit in GM mode has no toms samples

The Drum Doc RGS kit is missing a number of cymbals that are listed in GM mode.

My guess is that there are others that I haven't found yet, but that will be similar to these issues.

In IMAP mode, the Bruford kit DOES appear to have the toms.

I have re-downloaded the phase 2 patches and installed them via the IP installer.

Oddly, I'm pretty sure the Bruford kit worked last night before I redownloaded and installed the new patches.

Suggestions anyone?
For GM there are two things that have to be done (that should have been by default - but the Bruford kit patch had to be rebuilt with the encryption intact so it didn't play in demo mode so that is why it was there set before and not now).

We'll set it and re-upload it today. However, it is actually good for you to know how to do it as it is super simple and an actual great FEATURE of the product!

Speaking of GM mode, the toms AND cymbals have the ability to be assigned to "slots". These are positions on the keyboard. They're all loaded but in the case of the Bruford kit the toms need to be set to a slot and the articulation you want for it chosen. To do that takes about 10 seconds. In the MAPPING page of each tom you have a "SLOTS" in the top middle with a drop down. Set each of the 6 toms to slot 1-6 respectively. (one tom to slot 1, another to slot 2 etc.). Then you have to hit "Set Articulation" in order to be able to choose whether you want it to be a CENTER hit or a RIM hit... this is actually a very NICE feature to be able to choose this! Normally not something you get in GM so this is advanced... worth the minor pain of "choosing".

Now, the other kits have choices made by default. That is how it SHOULD be. But... you can still alter those and change a Center to a Rim or move a tom around, swap it out with another tom from another kit... all sorts of things. VERY good to know this feature.

The cymbals work the same way except they don't have set articulation. But you can choose which position they go in - this is for a fast re-mapping capability of putting what you want where... which is great instead of having to change your midi file itself... let's say you want a splash to be hit instead of a china or crash... you can easily do that with assigning the splash to that slot!

I will publish more information about the slots specifically soon with some graphics and everything. This is part of the upcoming thorough manual - although I did a powerful "tour" of Drum Masters 2 in the Sonic Reality forum on KVR that has some detailed info as well.

Anyway, you can learn it now or if you just want it to be assigned by default then no problem. EASY to do and we'll put that up as soon as we can today... this will just be a patch update which is very small.

The TGA error message no longer shows up after installing the new Phase 2 Patch zip. But the toms in the GM kit do not work and every drum has an IMAP name.
Serge
p.s. I hope you had a caipirinha with your dinner.
We'll have those reset. But if you read my previous post about it that may be helpful beyond just making that kit work for you.

Unfortunately not. I don't think NI realized just how cool that output mixer can be. It DOES have fx inserts which is great! But, IMO, it would be great if they could add MUTE/SOLO as well as automation for the output mixer sliders. That to me would be AWESOME... feel free to lobby NI for that feature. Let's make a petition! Haha. No, I'm kidding... although maybe a thread on their forum with lots of people saying "YES!". They should know how much this feature is wanted by the users though. I have been asking for it for too long with no results. Feel free to help. We don't make Kontakt so we have to work with what is there.

By the way, running it as a plug-in and setting up your individual outputs to go into your DAW (with infinitely better effect plug-ins like T-Racks, UAD and Waves) is still possible NOW and really the much much BETTER way... but still, it is nice to be able to do it ALL within the plug-in too or in stand alone. I'm with you guys on this. It'd be a GREAT feature for Kontakt to have.

Squids- Can you tell me exactly how many INSTRUMENTS, MULTI'S AND SAMPLES I should have in each folder? Also, if it is not too much trouble can you do the same for the first GB kits as well since I'm wondering if I'm missing some there too?

Also, I had to manually drag and drop the USD Patch #2 into thier respective folder because I dragged it on to the installer several times and nothing even registered. Was that alright to do? Anyone else have this issue?
Yes, and we'll have to copy/paste this post into the new "vital info" thread I am making for The Sequel GB here.

FROM THIS ULTIMATE STUDIO DRUMS 2 SEQUEL GB:

In this folder hierarchy: Infinite Player/Multis/Ultimate Studio Drums 2 you should have the following folders that each have three multi kits (an IMAP, VDRUM and GM version):

Bill Bruford STm Drum Kit
Bonzo Hand STm Kits

Chambers Sig STm Kit
Classic Rock STm Kit

------------------------------
Instruments folder: In the folder hierarchy of Infinite Player/Instruments/Ultimate Studio Drums 2 you should have the following kit folders of instrument "kit pieces" inside (ie. kick, snare, toms etc.). These are what you would use when you want to swap out kit pieces from a Multi kit. You simply "X" out (close) the instrument within the multi kit you've loaded. Then you load the same kit piece but from a different kit from this Instrument section and if you like the swap out you then save BACK your own custom Multi by hitting that floppy disc icon at the top of Kontakt and "save as". You can save it anywhere but we recommend you save a Multi back into your multis folder and perhaps make your own folder for your own tweaks... One thing to note, the kit pieces are only in IMAP mode and if you want to use them in other mapping modes like GM or VDRUM or CUSTOM you have to change it after loading which is easy - just change the drop down in the Mapping screen of that instrument/kit piece. Note that the only one kit pieces that do have a VDRUM instrument in here are ones that have been enhanced specifically for VDRUM such as the hi hats and sometimes snares.

Of course if you were in the previous Group Buy and/or have treated yourself to other Infinite Player format sounds you will have other things in there besides these... and that's a good thing! ;)

Can you clarify this a bit for me? If you had the the 2 toms loaded and assigned to the same slot, which articulation would sound when that midi note was hit?
