How to transpose a sequence:
Right-click sequence part -> Sequence -> Functions -> Transpose.
FYI: You can also assign a key shortcut to any context function via top EDIT menu -> Preferences -> Edit Shortcuts.

To be logical or not to be logical ? (it is quote from me ..inspired by..)mutools wrote:How to transpose a sequence:

The distinction between a part and sequenze ?
When i rightclick on a part than i do see 2 menu entrances : part en sequenze
Confusing for me that when i choose the "part" menu entrance that i see there: duplicate sequenze(1) and choose sequenze(2) while there is also a "sequenze" menu entrance
Further i must get clear for myself, the difference of a sequenze and a part in MULAB

A part and a sequence are two different types of 'objects'.
A sequence part plays a sequence.
So "Choose Sequence" is a sequence part function.
But "Transpose" is a sequence function.
The logic is object oriented.
Hope this helps.

Here's some more ideas along these lines that may also help.
A "sequence part" is a container for a sequence. Operations on the container do not affect the content. That's why you need to operate on the sequence. Note that sequence...transpose therefore makes a change that will affect everywhere that sequence is used. (More than one part can refer to - or "contain" - the same sequence.)
Also, a "track" is a container for parts - which can be either audio or sequence parts.

....
....
so choose part (So "Choose part" is a part function)
so duplicate part (.. )
There is a sequenze
A sequenze plays a sequenze
So " Choose Sequenze is sequenze function (and not a part function)
So " Choose Part is a part function (and not a sequenze function)
is it not possible to get a unambiguous system: when i do work with parts than i don't want to work with a seqenze ( the notion , idea ) ..i do want to work with parts
Perhaps the fact that i am not a englishman is the cause of my misunderstanding how to work with parts or a sequenze in MULAB
A part is for me is rectangle in the composing screen of MULAB with no music events in it
A sequenz is a rectangle with music events in it
Makes this sense ?

Indeed, a part is 'a rectangle in the composer'.janamdo wrote:A part is for me is rectangle in the composing screen of MULAB with no music events in it
There are 2 different types of parts: Audio Parts and Sequence Parts.
An audio part plays an audio file.
A sequence part plays a sequence.
More on this: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/docs/overview.html
I often gently wondered: Where are you from? Sometimes i have difficulties to understand your sentences. Maybe that's also because i'm not a native english speaker myself.Perhaps the fact that i am not a englishman is the cause of my misunderstanding how to work with parts or a sequenze in MULAB

I do only want get rid of the duplicate Sequenze and Choose Sequenze command in the Part menu
I do want chance them in "Duplicate Part" en "Choose Part" that is what i all the time try to explain (to make clear)

From the Netherlands i live in IJmuiden on the coast near Amsterdam , so i am a dutchman ..not far from england

"Duplicate Part" and "Choose Part" would be technically not correct.janamdo wrote:I do only want get rid of the duplicate Sequenze and Choose Sequenze command in the Part menu

Because when doing "Duplicate Sequence" the part is not duplicated, you keep the same part. But the sequence it plays is duplicated, and then the part plays that new duplicated sequence, which will sound the same at first of course, as it's an exact copy, but you can change it without affecting any other sequence parts playing the original sequence. Hope you see what i mean. Sorry this seems to be complicated.
Funny, then we speak (almost) the same language, i.e. dutch. From Belgium myselfFrom the Netherlands i live in IJmuiden on the coast near Amsterdam , so i am a dutchman ..not far from england

To others: sorry to go in dutch for this post. Switching back to english after this post.

I do understand now the workflow of parts and sequenze, but ...it takes a while because in the "part" section of the menu you use also Choose sequenze and duplicate sequenze
There is also a "sequenze"section of the menu where i do aspect to find Choose sequenze and duplicate sequenze
Example
Well if i make a new part with the pencil MULAB comes again up with a menu: sequenze-> new
More consistent for me is to find a part->new and not a sequenze->new
A part is a empty rectangle
A sequenze is a filled rectangle with events (musicdata)
When i manupulating parts(than i have nothing to do with a sequenz and the other way round)
I do want have a separate workflow for empty rectangles(parts) and filled rectangles(sequenze)
Well i do understand now the workflow in MULAB
, but find it confusing in the beginning to start with parts and sequenzes

Yes, because it's a part which chooses the sequence, it's not a sequence which chooses the sequence, so "Choose Sequence" is a part action, not a sequence action, and so it's in the part context menu.janamdo wrote:I do understand now the workflow of parts and sequenze, but ...it takes a while because in the "part" section of the menu you use also Choose sequenze and duplicate sequenze
This kind of logic is called object oriented logic.
At first you have to get used to it, but then it's very logical and natural, imho.
I'll keep your comments in mind and will search for how the concept can be made easier.Well i do understand now the workflow in MULAB, but find it confusing in the beginning to start with parts and sequenzes

The part is a container.
The sequence is the content.
There is a pool of sequences, any of which could be in any sequence containing part.
So, to set the content of a particular part, you perform the operation on the part.
Does that make it easier?

yes, it makes sense ..i do understand the concept of a part as a container: filled with sequenzes
The whole idea of MULAb is to be a maximum functional composingtool with a minimal GUI what has a intuitief logical workflow
