Mac & ACE users - a minute of your time, please?

Please help me to check something.

Could you please open an instance of ACE in the DAW of your choice and select RL Soft and Mellow from the Pads bank. How many notes can you play before your CPU maxes out and starts to stutter?

I can only play about six notes which leads me to believe something is wrong with my setup.

Admittedly, I run a Hackintosh but I don't have any problems with any other plugin. Here's my specs:

Intel i7 3.1GHz processor
12 Gb DDR3 1600 Ram
Snow Leopard 10.6.3

I tested in Live, Logic and Cubase.

Interestingly, on my old Intel Q6600 quad core running Windows 7 32bit, I can play about double the amount of notes before I get crackles.

What sort of polyphony do you get?

I was just able to get 6 notes out of my 2.8GHz MBP (T9600) with 8GB ram in Live with a 128 sample buffer. Audio started to break up after that.

You can reduce the quality mode from accurate to good, standard or draft to get more polyphony, it didn't seem to change this sound too much.

Yes, you're right. I just thought it was strange as I can get double the polyphony out of my old Q6600 before the audio broke up. I just wanted to check with you guys to see if it was just me.
