Hakey relax, my post wasn't aimed at you ;)

I completely agree that Synth1 doesn't have the best sound engine. But I also stated several times now that how 'good' a synth is does not purely depend on the quality of the sound engine. A great sound engine does not automatically make a great synthesizer ;)

The way Synth1 sounds is a big part of it's charm. If anyone thinks it doesn't sound as good as (for example) Elek7ro then by all means use that one instead. I myself don't think one sounds better then the other, to me they just sound different so they give me different sounds and possibilities :D
CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, Moved to Reason and Rack Extensions exclusively (from Reaper and VSTs) several years ago.

I'm quite relaxed :) I did start that post saying that I agreed with what you'd said - and my post wasn't really aimed at you either, it was more a clarification of my POV re bassdriver's post.

Anyway, I agree, Synth1 has it's own sound, it's flexible and easy to use, ultra light on cpu and has a ton of interesting and varied patches, so it's got plenty to recommend it :) (and that's now the third time I'v said as much ;) )

hakey wrote:3ee, how about comparing FM, or filter cut off at high res, or the transition of the filter to self oscillation?
I wanted to compair the quality of the oscillators.. and to proove that Synth1 is in need for a sound quality upgrade that's all... IMO Synth1's filter and fm are more usefull than Tal Elek7ro's ones so no need for comparison there.

Synth1 is still a great little synth, easy to use, loads of really nice patches etc.. but I think I said that already ;)
I agree... I like and use Synth1 myself. I just suggested for a sound update that's all.

(Synth A is Elek7ro - what do I win?)
Yes A= Elek7ro, B= Synth1 .. you won an emoticon :tu:

does synth1 got a a BigTone (brok landers) bank?
I want a cfa (cyforce) soundbank too... ah, and a rob_lee too...
and maybe a soundorder too... and what about an arksun soundbank???

:D

One thing about Synth1 is for sure..
Kvr is bound to make Ichiro-san run for the hills in no time :hihi:

I can't help wondering what kinds and range of sounds you'd get from Elek7tro (or whatever the freaking spelling is) if you applied the same amount of FX Synth1 has... considering the difference in terms of objective quality ;-)
Yes, if one likes that kind of abrasive, digital sound is perfectly fine to use it (I made an album using almost exclusively this http://www.kvraudio.com/get/227.html I don't know how many of you would choose to). But saying it sounds better than other free synths out there means losing perspective...

every now and then, if i find the time, i do a sound on synth1. as soon as the bank is full, i'll probably release it ... but i can't say when that is ...

Toda-San,

ちょうど興味から、私達を幾年もの間連絡することを試みるために知ったか? KVRAudio.comがあったことを知ったか?

Just out of curiosity, did you know we have been trying to contact you for years? Did you know that KVRAudio.com existed? Why you finally decided to pay us a visit after all these years?

I'm also curious about your background. What was your motivation for creating Synth1 all those years ago? Do you have the desire to create more musical software? What's your musical background? I assume you program software as your job (but probably not related to music)?

Wow. Now Mr. Toda himself posts on this thread.. best thread ever. :hihi:

Also, I see some of you are using my old patch bank for Synth1.. please keep in mind this was made on 1.05 or 1.06 before the sound engine was updated so some of the 'current' features are not used right now.

mcnoone wrote:I can't get the presets to show up in the Synth1 update, on XP.
Everythings where it should be in the vstplugins folder, and there is sound, but no presets, which are in the folders. Strange.
A message says invalid folder. Any ideas?
Maybe run the initsettings.exe again, and choose a simpler path, perhaps just
C:\Synth1
thats how my linux setup is working. initsettings.exe will ask if you want to change locations each time you run it. 8)
Cheers :)

I believe the One Synth Competition (OSC) we had some time ago with Synth1 played a role in his decision to update the instrument, as most of the issues he has addressed with this update came to light thru the posts related to the OSC...

Are the patches saved with the song now, I remember you and V'ger had problems with that ?

I haven't had the time to check the new version out, yet, unfortunately, so I wouldn't know :( I sure hope so, as that was hell...

Just disable it if you don't like it.
