Lol, I think it was a Kontakt or Reaktor screenshot I used for that mock-up a completely imaginary thing, yes. I put it there when I created the group, long before there was even a single iPad app out. :D

Perhaps I should change it?

I'm mostly interested in the iPad in forms of it acting as a control surface, I find it very interesting to see how the multi-touch aspect will be utilized in forms of a musical gui.

Right now, most delvelopers still think "old fashioned" that is, in ways before multi-touch, like a mouse (one finger) would still be the status quo in GUI design, like in this retrorun/rerun/son-of of ReBirth...

Generally, multi-touch should open up a lot of ALTernatives, such as using your thumb to switch modes for the keys/pads or whatever on screen. There could be several ALT and Shift Buttons and their combinations open up thousands of combinations (like shifting modes etc).

I'm sure some smart designer will revolutionize the way we think about inputting music with multi-touch tech. Really soon.

CPU-wise, the iPad isn't really that interesting, but as for portable wireless multi-touch chameleon GUI with excellent battery-life, it is.

That's funny, I'm pretty sure it was my (and many others') first, er, software of questionable providence.

Anyway, ho hum, new to iThing - The software What Launched A Million Terrible "Underground" Rave Tunes. (I'm quite certain anyone else who actually lived through that will also be rolling their eyes 'bout now).

Not to be "that guy" but a PC tablet will run any audio software you like :hihi:
It's too late. You're "that guy."
You're bad... with my help, you could be the worst.

it's surprisingly usable on the iPhone screen.
this might be the first app on the iPhone I actually want to make a tune with.

rebirth was done by Retronyms, the company that brought us Dopplerpad. I thought they were based in scamerica. i still want an ipad version so i can use that extra half inch of space 8)

btw, did you get one/plan on getting ipad?
plan, no cash yet (and not avail in canada) but as soon as i have the money i'm getting one with a line 6 midi to dock interface to use it live, rebirth would be pretty damn cool to add to my setup, no frums, just 1 303 each side on 2 mixer channels

I'm sure they'll look into the possibility of an iPad version soon enough, it's just that the bleedin' thing isn't even available in Sweden yet. Apple hasn't even annnounced their pricing.

"ReBirth Reborn", it's funny... some time ago I was doing some spring cleaning on my hard drive and found my original graphics for the ReBirth PBE mod, and couldn't believe how hideous they were. A few weeks later I was over
I was over at Props HQ talking to Ernst about graphics and I mentioned finding that old PBE GUI, and he pulled up his iPhone and said "what, you mean this?" And there was the PBE mod demo song playing on an effing iPhone. Zombie alert!

maybe I missed something but it seems like you need to have an old OS and a copy of rebirth on your computer to get your song off the phone. still pretty fun though. guess I could always just plug my phone into my firebox and record the audio.

i'm on a mac, from what I can see it won't run on my OS. i suppose I can install OS classic or whatever it's called, but not really worth the effort (had classic on my last computer and it ran terrible).

it's fine really. I just want something to play with on my lunch break. guess I was just pointing it out in case it was a deal breaker for anyone.
