Hi all

I'm a newbie but 50 years old and payed with computers for half of my life.
Played abit with MIdi 25 years ago and just décided to play again

Got Mu-lab 3 days ago (was very imprest with the sounds)and bought a M Audio OXygen 25

Now how do I set up this thing to make it work (M-Audio tels me to ask Mu-Lab !!!)

I just want to play on the keyboard and hear a piano sound comming from a Mulab sound.

I do not think Mu-Lab supports the Oxygen 25 direct link ???

Hi Antonie!

One step at the time.

If you are on a Mac then I can't help you very far...

You need a soundcard with an ASIO driver or, if not, at least you'll need to install Asio4All (free download, you need to google it) on your PC.
I understand you can use also MME but ASIO is far better IMO even with the Asio4All free driver.

You may need to install the software that came with your keyboard but it may not be required.

After installing Asio4All, if you didn't have an Asio soundcard, open MuLab and, with your keyboard connected and "On" go to the Edit Menu and select > "Audio Setup".

Select Asio as Driver Type and Asio4All for the second menu.
Sample rate 44100 is fine, click OK.

Then again from the Edit menu select > "Midi Setup".
Choose from the first(?) pop-up menu your keyboard and click OK.

Go to the first Rack (A) or any other, and click on the first empty slot and on the top of the context menu select:
Synths > MOTOOLS > ROM > Keys > and any piano you like.

It should work unless there is something more you have forgotten to include in your post. :)

Hello Antoine, and welcome !

I too am no longer a teenager (as my grandchildren keep reminding me) and, like you, I experienced quite a long break from midi, sequencing, etc - partly because I was out doing band gigs, and also partly because I didn't seem to have the right tools and skills to get things like 'badly synthesised trumpet patches' to sound realistic, etc.

2 or 3 years ago, with a little more free time, I came back to it all (via MU.LAB), and found that things are now much different - and more enjoyable !

As liquidsound says above (quote):
... Great forum, great users, great DAW "and" GreatDeveloper!...

In addition to the 'new users' of MU.LAB, this forum also includes some folks with in depth knowledge of more advanced aspects (and thus a few topics and discussions which get quite technical). In the beginning, I just absorbed the stuff I understood, and gradually started to dig deeper later on.

Anyway, my prediction is that you will soon be enjoying MU.LAB, and the MUTOOLS forum !

Bonjour

Merci beaucoup !!!

Yes I'm on a PC, so yes I will need alot of help :P

I have on my laptop Vista, installed Mu Lab, worked with MME (it was the only option I had) I installed ASIO4all yesterday and it even fixed a one year old sound bug I had.

My keyboard is in the mail, I should get it tomorrow, I must be the only one reading instructions manuals before getting the toy. I did not understand how to set it up with a Mulab ( the M audio manual is made for a wiz and the Mulab manual for a semi wiz ) Merci beaucoup for the advice, its clear now and I cant wait to try it.

Hey Antoine,

Shouldn't be a problem...

-plug in keyboard
-open MU.LAB
-EDIT->MIDI-Setup->click on the white rounded rectangle next to 'input port 1'

and you're laughing!

Marco :D

edit: sorry, Mac here. can't say if you need to do any more on PC!
