as a workaround you could make the gui bigger in the options.

Daichi - the preset list now has too big font size, letters y, g, j, p, q, are chopped off. Please correct. Also, in the line which says bank name, it would be good to add additional spaces:

Currently -> "Bank81:Bank Name"

Suggested: "Bank 81: Bank Name"

Also, it would be good to introduce .s1b format, which would be a text file with a FULL bank inside, with all 128 patches stored. Much easier to organize, and no need for bulky folders!

Understood and thanks for the workaround, but I like my 150% GUI size. It just needs to be fixed! A very simple fix too! :)

no, of course this has to be fixed, i was just saying that you can workaround it until the fix ...

To make something REALLY clear: multi-timbral is NOT multi-layered !!!!!!!!

Daichi already has said that he is thinking about layers and I'm perfectly fine with that. He said he was thinking about four layers and that seems a good compromise between complexity and functionality. In my perception this means I have just one synth with just one midichannel going in that can layer 4 sounds on top of each other. As soon as you talk about separate midi-channels for parts just use separate instances of the synth.

A multi-timbral synth (I have several multi-timbral plugins) is nothing more then several instances bundled behind one UI. Every part is a whole separate synth with it's own patch-management, own midi-channel and in most cases it's own output. It adds a lot of clutter to the UI to be able to navigate those instances but nothing else.

I think there might be multi-timbral plugins that actually are able to store a 'multi' as one patch (like my K1rII does) but in all the multi-timbral plugins I have this is not the case.

As Krim said: multi-timbral is an ancient concept that is completely obsolete with the current state of plugins and hosts.
CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, Moved to Reason and Rack Extensions exclusively (from Reaper and VSTs) several years ago.

Right! Multi-timbrlality is a really outdated concept. In some minor cases, like Kontakt, or samplers in gerneral, it's still useful. But for synths, especially cpu friendly ones like Synth1, it makes no sense in my opinion.

To have multible layers within Synth1 would be a dream instead.

Multitimbrality is better suited to hardware workstation synthesizers, I agree.

As far as softsynths are concerned, it is not needed in most cases. I'll make a due exception with Kontakt, where multitimbrality has a LOT of great usage.

Post

I would agree what brok said in his post, multitimbrality has the advantage to open up ONE gui (and save ram and cpu) and store a multi .

I think it is an ancient way to open up 10 or 16 single instances of a plugin and they are spread around the host instead of one and having multitimbrality.

So, Synth1 should have all the possible bells and whistles, including but not limited to a pile of effects, trance gates, step/phrase sequencers, layers, layer morphing, multitimbrality and a mod matrix (why not several, while at it?).

AND it should come with a pricetag too.

It should have 'improved sound' while still sounding the same.

What is wrong with you people? :D
Now available with added Inherently Suspect Justification!

You could always get Kore Software Edition or Energy XT and make a megasynth out of synth you want (including synth1).

We want everything to get better..............but we don't like changes :hihi:

Keytacked filter on legato mode, is that a bug or a feature? (ie: Cutoff resets on first note on, but won't follow on concurrent note.)

Yeah Kore looks nice but i'll save my money for omnisphere, sounds amazing and that multi-mode.... :hihi:

I think Spectrasonics team developed a wonderful thing, there is some sort of magic around this baby
