Glad you guys liked the 80's style pads :)

I agree, the strings and choir should have been used in another context. Their purpose was more as a distraction.

There will be a new soundset from me, been planing to release it for several motnhs now but i keep finding new techniques i want to add to the soundset, like these bell'ish/ plucked pads.

Whats taking so long is that i'm trying to synthesis sampled PCM waveforms. I think i got the bell'ish types covered by now but i'm strugling with the air type of PCM waveforms. So hang in there :)

Great sounds.
I listened to that quite a few times.
The only part I didn't like was the end.
Just because it ended, it should have continued on for another 10 minutes at least. :hihi:

I used a D20 for many years, and I just got the Korg legacy digital synths.
I'm kinda disappointed with the Korg stuff though, just not that much fun to program.

The hard part about that legacy set is finding the right sounds heh heh there are trillions of PCM waveforms. But what i like about those oldies is the layer parts thinking. All classic stacked sounds consist of metalic, Air, Plucked, Bell hits. Get those 4 layers right on Zebra and you can program tons of 80's style pads and plucks.

Wavestation is hard to program but is unique to produce nice rhythmic textures.

Any feedback, good or bad is appreciated. Done on Sonar8P with EmulatorX and Zebra2.5. Thanks for listening!! :)

Here is a track I've been working on ( still a work in progress ) that makes extensive use of Zebra:

The kick drum was even synthesized in Zebra ;-)

All feedback welcome.

A mix of haunting and a winter snow landskab is was comes to my mind when i hear this. I noticed you use mainly General Midi instruments, wonder how it would sound like if replaced by typical synth sounds.

Which instruments did the phaser thing, i really like that sound.

Otherwise is was an interesting listen :) its almost as something is about to burst out on the next bar so you keep focused.

Did this clavinet preset, and just recorded quick loop plays to give a listen too.
Klavinut is a funky loop I did using some drum loop I found, and one of my older bass presets, along with the clavinet, which is at a higher volume then I'd normally mix it at. Just to hear it more clearly.
That loop file is here.

This other short clip is just some noodling with the preset only.

I think it sounds like a real clavinet...well close anyway.
I'd like to give this preset out, but I believe I'd have to get permission from Howard, as it's 50% Howards preset from the 2.5 new ones called Kliky Klav. I tweaked it a lot, but could not recreate it without using the osc spectral fx settings or the filter he used in it.
I just took out the comb, changed the wave and some osc and phase settings, added two more filters, and minor envelope adjustments.
If Howard says it's okay to post it, I'll put it up, as it's really a good one.
I wouldn't include this in my next bank, as it's a tweaked patch from someone else, which is something I wouldn't include with my own presets for distribution. :)

That's amazing mcnoone, I actually haven't downloaded any Zebra presets as I don't use them in my music, but I now realise I should look through your soundset as I have so much to learn.

And as I never post anything here, this is a track I made for a netlabel compilation a little while ago:

http://soundcloud.com/quixodelicrecords ... m-mortlake

Synths and drums are all Zebra, and modulation effects are Uhbiks.

That is nice o.0 Is there any reverb on your patch?

No.
The Klavinut loop thing has an extra filter turned on and a light use of a slap delay setting on.
The other mp3 is without any effects and 1 less filter, which I have as an option to turn it on for extra twang.
It really doesn't sound like the original, but it does use quite a bit of settings from Howards preset. Maybe I'll pm him and ask him if it's okay to share this one.

Thanks for saying so...I'm just a big fan of the clavinet.
It's a Stevie Wonder thing.
I like your song.
I'm thinking the guitar in it was real, but Zebra can do some very realistic acoustic and electric guitar sounds too. Drums sounded excellent as well.
Take care.
Michael :)

I'm completely with you on the Stevie Wonder clavinet appreciation, he made it so incredibly funky. I'm also a big fan of his drumming, particularly on the early live recordings.

And thanks for your kind words about my track, the acoustic guitar is indeed real (there's a ukulele doubling with the main synth part as well). I'm sure it would be possible to synthesize them instead, but I must admit I enjoy the idiosyncrasies of recording the physical instrument (particularly as I'm not a great guitarist).
