Synthedit image module issue:
I always wondered, why the shadows of knobs look different when using the .png graphic in synthedit. Now I realized, that Synthedit manages the alpha layer different then other programs. If I make a test graphic with 10%, 20%, 30%... transparency, the intensity of the colour develops correct, other programs like GIMP are also showing it the same. When using the graphic in Synthedit, it's like Synthedit seems to treat the transparency "exponential" instead of "linear".
If using a 20% filling with 100% diffuse in Knobman to make a light "shine", it's much too intense in Synthedit and has a sharper border. Setting it to 5% in Knobman makes it look in Synthedit like it is looking in Knobman at 20%, but the border is still too sharp, because there are not enough "steps" left to make it look smooth.
Anyone knows a workaround or another "image" module for synthedit, that works correctly?

for anyone that wants to use psd to spice up the gui but isn't really sure how to go about it or would like to add some tricks to what they know already, I saw an excellent book this evening at B&N. I just thumbed through it and read a few pages here and there but for the most part its almost the same process I use when doing things for my gui's so I cant help but recommend it. Not directly related to knobman/skinman
but I think many of us use these in combination with psd anyway so worth mentioning.

short video tutorial I made this weekend. It's my first attempt at it so things will hopefully improve as I learn more...or get better software. Anyway, I made a very basic knob, exported it, and loaded it into reaktor. Basic stuff.

Thanks.duncanparsons wrote:Good stuff, Jonathan, good clear walk throughGood commentary as well, did you talk through a script, or just speak as you did things?
no script on this one, in the future i will likely make a script of some sort. Anyway, I recorded the audio in Reaktor as I recorded the monitor screen then tried to match everything up as best as possible after editing everything. The other sequences and screens are made in psd.
I hope to look at each section in more detail in the future, this was just my test run.

Finished up the gui I was working on and labeled everything. I'm uploading here and on my webpage. Don't have to worry about adding any textures as I only used what comes with the default setup.
