I don't know if anyone brought it up already: Wouldn't it be great if Synth1 would somehow support custom skins? The ability to support skins, would only have to be implemented once (more or less), and then the graphics experts could go nuts. How about a Nord Lead look? :ud:

---

Just an idea. I mean, how can you make the best free VSTi Synth even better?
Free VSTi that started as a commercial product, ok, that's another story. But...
On top of that: The production of Synth1 is a One-Man-Show(!). :-o

Thought I should drop a few more suggestions:

1. Close the slider window upon releasing the mouse button.

2. Control+click to reset a parameter to a default value

3. Ctrl+doubleclick to randomize a parameter.

4. Randomize button globally, and for each component (oscilator, envelope, LFO's etc etc.

5. Save presets for all components.

6. Copy / paste component settings.

7. Load 4 different presets, then add a joystick control to morph between them.
Best regards from Johan Brodd.

Request: Please do not touch the look of the GUI or the font. Its perfect imo.

Bug: Patch selection window does not stay opened for me in Orion, it will flash quickly and revert back to the parameter screen - I cannot select new patches at the moment through the overlay patch window.

The font sucks balls, IMO. A lot of screen estate could've been saved if it weren't a monospaced font. I'd still like an option to skin S1 completely.

Okay, I'm not going to write every single request in the OP. If there are any requests that are not included and enough people are in favour I'll write them up.

RE: the trancegate idea - wouldn't having a step sequencer available as a mod source achieve the same thing by routing it via the matrix to Env Gain?

RE: the look of the GUI - I tend to agree that, by and large, it's fine as is. I'm all for changes where these improve usage (eg. improving the readability of text), but if it's just a case of improving it's aesthetic appeal, well I'm not bothered either way. Nevertheless there's many people have asked for S1 to be fully skinnable, so the request has been written up.

What about the multitimbral/layering idea that was discussed at length in the other thread? I wasn't sure exactly what people were arguing for - full multitimbrality, key splits, layering? If anyone wants to write a short description, I'll put it in the OP. (And I think Ichiro said he was thinking of some kind of layering option anyway?)

I understand what your saying, and it's a fair point, but, giving due respect to Toda-san, could you perhaps moderate your tone to be less confrontational? Something like 'changing the font would greatly improve etc...' would have got the message across just as well.

OK.

I perceive the font used by Synth1 as not looking good at all. It uses too much space because it's monospaced, and I think it would be much better if a non-monospaced sans serif font was used.

I don't know
As long as it gets the trance gate effect, I'm good.

Updates I'd like to see (in order of interest):

All of the Effect and FM section controls controllable with Mod Wheel.

LFO1 and LFO2 Delay controls with attack controls - meaning the modulations could be set to affect the signal at specified delayed times and attacks.

Filter Track control capable of positive AND negative values.

16 Step Sequencer (or at least more Arpeggiator options).

Pan control for the Delay section (at least in ST Mode).

I would really love separate amplitude ADSR controls for each oscillator, but understand this may be too involved to accomplish.

Updated Synth1 versions to have new ID numbers so we can use the old versions and NEW versions at the same time (for old projects that have finely-tuned v1.07 patch settings in place)

Just ideas that would be fun, for me! I'm happy either way!

Thank you Daichi!!!

They already are - you can route modwheel to just about anything in the Wheel/MIDI section of v1.11.
Filter Track control capable of positive AND negative values.
Yes, this is something I've been thinking about too.

An assignable mod matrix would allow this (and much more :) ).

Oh, so you can control the speed and depth of the Phasor effect with the mod wheel in v 1.11? I didn't know that! (I still haven't been able to install newer updates due to couple of dozen projects in the works with very exacting 1.07 patches in place). Well very cool then!!!

Internal oversampling and more voices please (128).

(Only if it is not too much trouble of course).
[====[\\\\\\\\]>------,

Ay caramba !

128 is kinda unnecessary for this type of synth... 32 is very decent, 64 would be just right.

OK. I surely hope he doesn't take your advice. From past responses from Daichi, he said he wasn't really looking to reskin anyways. :c )

they are already, via the wheel/midi matrix.
SciFiArtMan wrote:LFO1 and LFO2 Delay controls with attack controls - meaning the modulations could be set to affect the signal at specified delayed times and attacks.
i'd love to see that, too. However, to gain this potential to the max extend, the lfo's should be polyphonic, currently they're monophonic. so as soon as you'd add a delay/attack to the delay, the lfo stops working due to the attack/delay time. if it would be polyphonic, the lfo would run and then use another voiced lfo while the old voice still keeps the previous lfo running, so on the previous voice the lfo could be running, while on the new voice the lfo could fade in simultanesly.
SciFiArtMan wrote:Pan control for the Delay section (at least in ST Mode).
ditto, that would be nice, so we could do jarre sounds - original sound to one, delay to the other side ...
