yrg thread

Hey guys,
I'm customer # 73, order #118 according to my YRG pre-order email from Kevin last Jan. 26, 2010.
I used to stay up on all the posts from Kevin at the YRG Youtube channel "Comments area" - even maintained a running thread at www.futureguitarnow.com focused on latest tangible YRG news, as several people I correspond with also placed YRG "pre-orders" last Jan-Feb timeframe. In April, I compared notes with my friends and none of us were getting any response from Kevin regarding our emails asking "when will my YRG order ship".
Glad to read the YRG viewpoints of folks here at KVR - I agree, the RockBand Game Mode is a big yawn for me - i purchased the YRG for its claimed fast MIDI guitar controller aspects, to transcribe song ideas and create charts for my bandmates. Although lack of individual string bending negates the YRG as a live performance tool for me and my style of playing.
But I'm in the same boat as most of you - the continued pushed back ship dates, and conflicting info all year have forced me to lower my expectations that we will ever get this MIDI controller in our hands anytime soon. If I have a YRG in my hands before July 4th, I would consider this a miracle.

Geez Elantric, you are totally awesome! How did you find that? They're still building the site, half the stuff is still in Latin!
Ok, certainty of shipping just went from 50% to 87.5%! You can actually pre-order from that site.

Hm, apart from just the silly headstock designs, I wonder if these different necks are actually different "nut widths" like guitars. It would be way cool to be able to order a custom neck width like ordering different size Warmoth necks for guitars.
Naw, on further perusal, it's just teenybopper headstocks. But wireless USB is mentioned for a future release, that would be nice.
Please work for midi and not FAIL on me YRG! I'm dying to sell my weirdo Yamaha EZ-EG and Suzuki XG-M!

I can't wait to start using this as a MIDI controller. I just hope it doesn't suck.

My fear is that it starts out pretty good, and then you realize it doesn't have note-off or something. "Oh, that's set globally by this little knob. Hope there wasn't any confusion about that!" In other words, a gotcha. One thing that works so lousy it kills the whole utility of the device.
But short of an actual gotcha, if it just lets me play/program piano and organ and orchestra and all cleanly and lag-free within my DAW I'll be a happy camper.
I just keep hearing those weird, stiff little YT demos in my head by that guy from Black Eyed Peas and some other guy. They were so rigid and mechanical, I just gotta believe there's a gotcha in there someplace...

Most accurate YRG info is being exchanged here at this YRG Yahoo Group:
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/yourockguitar
Also I have just corresponded with an insider at Inspired instruments - and I'm
informed that most of the principals are in China this week, insuring that the
YRG production line workers assemble all the bits in the correct sequence and
use the correct torque settings on the power drills.
Indeed it looks like mass production has begun and will be flowing in mass
quantities in the next few weeks.
The question is - will these be shipped out of China via Sea cargo, or Air
Cargo?
i suspect Sea Cargo (which is a much cheaper method for bulk quantities) -
which typically translates into 3 weeks at sea and customs clearance - China to
California.

Naw; I'm the 90 lb. weakling in the "sand in your face" body-builder commercials! [ggg]. Seriously, it's not bullying to point out that your facts are simply wrong. If you doubt what I say just go to this link:
.
<>
.
Once there check out the first dozen videos and then tell me how many have the Guitar Hero aspects of the YRG as the main feature.
I read your posts, and about everything else I can find relating to the YRG; although the game controller ads have precisely zero interest for me. That's how I know you're all wet.

For better demos check out the 3 videos by Fish Herring on the site I just quoted you. Better yet, view them all.

All the initial promo and site splash page, etc, including their own spiels coming out of trade shows totally emphasized the Rock Band aspect. The midi always played second banana. Now I think these guys are gradually waking up to the fact that they're selling the cheapest midi guitar controller in history that also happens to be able to play kiddie games.

I seem to recall them saying that they would fly them in for the pre-orders "At their expense" as they put it. So whether they do this or not, who knows. They might be anxious like we are to do testing on some bulk, so we'll just have to wait and see. It's funny how this topic dies down and is then resurrected at theses different launch dates.

Their order numbers are still below 600 so I can't see them having any difficulty fulfilling the pre-orders. Yeah, most companies fly in the first shipment since they're usually way behind schedule and they don't want to start a wave of cancellations. Hopefully we see the first boots on the ground mid to late June.
