A guitar amp should be good at:

1. Sound
2. Sound
3. Sound

4. Lowest possible CPU-load
5. Good handling (GUI, knobs etc. )

You know the answer:

There's a manifold of plugins here which give you all kinds of additional effects like phaser, chorus, compressors, stereoizers etc. etc.. You can use these all as inserts before or after your ampsim.

IMO it is a better strategy to let every single plugin be an expert-plugin in its core-use. That means: An amp sim should be good at "amplifier simulation".

I don't like "all in one plugins". Better a simple one purpose plugin, which does its job in an awesome way.
That makes a lot of sense!

Plus a million. Loathe At3, though it can sound nice.

Ronald's plugin sounds very very good, don't think use that much cpu, so, please keep it that way.

You rock Ronald.

You are now officially for me a Rock Star! ;)

I am agree with enroe.
Just like the man in the right place.

When bulild vst, s0me thing cross in my mind:
- sound good?
- unique en0ugh?

Well, if you are recording a guitar part that is designed to be drenched in echo and feedbacking and maybe ur using an eBow, then that is one example where you will want to monitor with the fx on. If the effect influences the way you play the part, you will want to hear it while you track.

Post

Best example I heard of that was Tony Iommi (Black sabbath) . . . We spent YEARS making this sound . . . You don't need three microphones in front of the stack . . . Just ONE will do!!!

Howz the 'mix engineer' gonna improve on what they spent years perfecting?

Absolutely. Echo and verb can fill space in a sparse part and make it work. Without FX on the cans or monitors you might overplay to compensate. Dave Gilmour solos on Dark Side of the Moon have the Binson tape echo all over them - I would be surpised if he played them without FX on the cans/monitors.

I've been using this all week and I'm really liking it. I have Pro-C before it, TAL DUB II and Masterverb after it and set on modern. I'm getting some really nice late 80's metal tones.

Maybe tonight I'll go for crunch and clean, but so far I'm really impressed. Thank you for your generosity, Ronald!!

You MUST record with the fx ON. Why? Coz each amp sim responds differently. So, when for example I play making artificial harmonics, there are some that give you lots of response for that kind of effect, while others won't give you any "artificial harmonic", just will give you a dull sound, almost a "mistake" sound.

Post

Basically, we may use SEND FX. So the FX may not be recorded.
We can do it later for PRECISION MIX!
Like in digital era, it is possible.
For other senior that record with FX, i am sure because of track limited at that time.
But no matter way, the important thing -> GOOD RECORD!

So we need put echo in RevZ???
hehe

Sorry for late replay, got some record with the band

TQ,RP!

Why do you talk about sends? YEah, they are great, but can't you just use inserts? That's I think the "normal" way to record something with the FX ON. The FX don't get recorded. I've been doing this with Cubase, Pro Tools and now Reaper (never going back again!) since day one and you just use inserts (unless you want to have guitar stereo tracks, or other routing you would like to do).

Post

Exactly. The FX aren't printed, the audio track simply plays THROUGH the fx on playback. So, I monitor with fx whenever possible, which is almost always these days as newer plugs are getting more cpu friendly and are usually zero latency.

Can't wait for the new SHRED 1.5 - hopefully we'll see it this weekend as it's basically finished according to Acme's forums - just final tweaking... Dual Cabs, Pedal Board, New High-Gain Amps, external impulse abilities - WOW BABY I can't wait. I'm an Acmebargig FanBoi all the way - Their Preampus Metal 60 and their "Gimme Head" are 2 of the very best high-gainers IMO (and NO I don't work for Acmebargig - just love their stuff)... Add some good impulses to Kefir and I'm in Pig Heaven... I'm really not using Presets just heads, cabs & impulses, and some VST's to liven up the soundz. I like Bootsy's Plug-Ins a lot - his BootEQ MKII is what I add usually to the High-Gain Amps I'm using and believe it or not I add a smidge of Ogilarc's Chorus to my Heavy High-Gain sounds - it "defines" the sound better somehow - makes it "richer sounding" - not a lot - just a touch of it goes a long way. Try adding a dash of Chorus to High-Gainers - it works nicely defining the harmonics, squeals, etc...

I love RevolutionZ too - it's also FAT and RICH. Ronald you did a great job with RevolutionZ!
Now the proud owner of an avid 11 Rack, Running Pro Tools 10.3.3 - for me it's heaven!

personally I totally disagree, mainly for convenience reasons:

1. I don't want to have to load addtional plugins

2. I want to be able to save presets

in addtion it will probably use less ram and can be otherwise opitmized internally
