How to record a generated sequence?

I have several VSTi sequencer plugins that generate events as output. When the events are input to another VSTi e.g. MuSynth, an audio output is obtained based upon the generated sequence. Typically the VSTi sequencer plugin is triggered by a midi event, however some sequencers are self triggered internally.
Is there a way to set up Racks so that MULab will record the generated sequence of events that is output from the sequencer plugin as a new sequence part?

+1 as I have this same need ... Plugins like Catanya, Thesys, and other arps / step sequencers types of plugins have outs full of midi data. How does one capture that output as a sequence.

I tried something crazy but it's not working right (of course....)
In Mu.Lab 3.19 I inserted a Catanya step seq. in the Modular Area and connected the output to Midi Out Port Maple 1 (the virtual Midi Port/Cable).
A Event monitor is showing the Arpeggio events and I can hear the piano target as well.
I then open another Mu.Lab (different version 3.1.6) and I used on Midi Input 1 set up the Maple Midi In Port 1. This acts as a direct cable for connecting for example a sequencer and a DAW according to the docs at Maple Virtual Midi Cable site.
http://www.maplemidi.com/Maple_driver.html
In fact I used to be able, with the Maple, to rewire (or play, I don't remember well) Reason in XT via FL studio long time ago, but it was not really practical no extensive.
Coming back to Mu.Lab, in the "Receiving" Mu.Lab (3.1.6) I inserted an Event Monitor in the MPA and it shows the Arpeggio events coming in but no matter what I do I can get to hear or record anything.
The events are there but they seems to vanish before reaching the Track or a target Plugin....
What's happening?
and...I'm falling asleep on top all all this!

Funny, I am using the Cantanya demo right now [i'm in live right now] but I have decided on MU.LAB instead of Orion and is on my radar after I buy a few plugins (Cantanya being one of those).
Anyway, I have a midi bit playing 8 bars of 4 chords [each chord is 2 bars long] and I have that midi looping in the track with Cantanya. I then have my synth in another track recieving the midi output from the midi loop -> Cantanya track.

Yes it works also in Mu.Lab but I can't figure it out how to record the midi events of Catanya in Mu.Lab yet, this is why I tried to send them out and record them in another Mu.Lab. They get there but....
I have no patience with arps or step seq. but I am trying to build one (very unusual) in Mu.Lab after being seduced by the XILs 3 loops sounds.
It's going to be a wild one!
Well, good night James!
BTW, Mu.Lab over Orion = Wise choice! I guess you already know why deep inside.

Hi all,
if you have a hardware synth or module with midi in and thru it's easy to do this. Just send the midi events to your synth and then back to mulab by its midi thru so you can record them. Be sure that you have focussed a different track than the arp or midi tool to not create a feedback loop.
If you don't have a HW with midi thru then you should go into a midi loopback device, but i don't have experience with this as i allways do it with a HW synth.
Anyway, this is a feature i'll find very usefull.

Jo,
Any idea why the second instance of MU.LAB was receiving Midi data but was not able to record them or pass them to a track?
(see my previous post above)

I think the neatest solution will be to add an Event Recorder module, just like we have the Audio Recorder module. It's on the wishlist.

That should be fine, but, what if you have a function to apply the midi fx directly to the original sequence?, without need to go into the MA. That would be more easy and intuitive for newcommers or non modular users. I'm "scared" to see that simple things require to go into the MA, IMO this limits the freedom for users that know nothing about modularity (i.e. my brother, wich is a newbie and is using mulab free right now). Reaper has such function and is one of the few things i liked of that app when i tested it.mutools wrote:I think the neatest solution will be to add an Event Recorder module, just like we have the Audio Recorder module. Yes in cubase, sonar , Live it is possible to record the midi output of catanya in a midi input of a synthJuan Mendoza wrote:mutools wrote:I think the neatest solution will be to add an Event Recorder module, just like we have the Audio Recorder module. It's on the wishlist.
So i must be asap in MUlab

Wow, janamdo do you use all those DAW?
Mu.Lab covers most of my needs, but this one is a biggie as I use this technique lots.
If this could get worked on for version 4 or even earlier; I could spend much more time in Mu.Lab

A interesting composing tool catanya so...it must be working hassle free in Mulab
These days it is not difficult to use all DAWS if you like that
Catyana works that way in Cubase, live, Sonar so why not easy in MUlab?
I use only Mulab and that's enough for music making
I hope that Mutools fix this ...

I would rather have a MU.Arp/Seq made by Jo's unique way. Yes definitely!
Even though I do not use them much, if at all, but from MU.LAB.... maybe.
