Because MUlab is versatile in setups in the modular area i like to see that i can make my own user folders for the MUX
I can than organize the MUX's how they are used in MUlab
e.g
- as effect
- as sound ( e.g notesplitter : drums)
- as setup layering sounds
- rewire setup
- multi vsti setup
- .....

This can be done already :D

Just create folders and even subfolders inside the user library mux folder with all cathegories you want and organize them the way you like most. Also works for Musynth patches, Oscillator waves, and musynth core module patches.

Hi Juan,

Yes, ofcourse in Windows XP program itself is also possible to organise folders..so i can do that ( Jo from mutools has better things to do than organizing my MUX files in Mulab :) )

Hi Jan,

when you organize your folders in windows, Mulab recognizes your folder structure and the result is that you have your patches organized as the default mulab patches with its subfolders

Just try it and let me know if it works for you.

I agree with him though, you should be able to do this from within the application.

Hi Robenestobenz!
Yes that was also my thought robenestobenz ..it looks so primitive now Mulab.
And Jo(Mulab) is enthousiastic all the time about the modularity of Mulab, but forget how to organize this :D
This is a seriously weak point now

It wouldn't be such a bad thing if you could choose which folder to save patches to via "Save As" from within the MUX once you've organised some folders via the OS. The patch always goes in the user\library\mux root as far as I can tell...

 sorry i thought that you where not able to organize your presets, didn't caught the "inside mulab" point. If that's the point i also agree that would be more effective to organize them directly inside mulab

Well at least the possiblity to choose a folder within the MUX and for all customs save files
This must be fixed in MUlab asap!

Given that the OS file manager exists and works well, personally I'd rather Jo spent his time on features that can only be implemented in MU.LAB.

When saving a MUX/MuSynth preset you can indicate the subfolder by preceding the name with the folder name(s).

E.g. Save a MuSynth patch as "Bass/MyBass" will save it in the user library under MuSynth/Bass/MyBass. I agree that this aspect may be improved by a more explicit folder chooser.

But besides this, please use your OS explorer/finder to move/copy/modify your user folder structure. It's not planned to duplicate this existing OS functionality into MU.LAB.

Sorry for this brief answer, hope i explain it well.

Ok give a path for your folder in Mulab :!: , but for the userfriendlyness a explicit folder choser is needed
Better is ofcourse to give this folderfunctionality complete in Mulab..why not? for MUX and other custom files
This functionality is already in Mulab on a other place

FYI: Besides being able to indicate a sub-folder in the 'Save Preset As' dialog e.g. "Bass/MyNewBass" will put MyNewBass in the user library Bass sub-folder, you can also right-click the 'Save Preset As' button which allows using the standard file browser to save a patch anywhere on your system.

(this info is besides the fact that i agree that there is room for improvement)

Sweet, I didn't realise that. That was the behaviour I was expecting from save as to begin with!

Could the browser open in the user\library\<module>\ folder as default?

From out of my head: I think that browser will open in the folder you last opened, so once you navigated to the library, it's there all the time.
