Well this post is three fold so I'll start with the Arpeggiator. :D

I think this is something that a lot of people would like. An automatic arpeggiator. Tick the "Arp" box on the synth panel or drop an arpeggio module in MuSynth and watch it work its magic.
Drag out the chords over a few bars then set it away to do its job. A lot faster and more productive than note by note I think. Just my suggestion. :)

Second suggestion. Maybe a Yamaha style Frequency Modulation (actually, its Phase Modulation) synth module for MuSynth? The world and its dog seems to have some kind of FM synth but having an FM module in MuSynth would be amazing. Q: How many operators do you want? A: How long is a piece of string? (that phrase never gets old)

Lastly - Something I always try to do is make convincing chiptune music with almost every DAW I've come across, and I always try to use old school tracker techniques to get things done. Using second channels as echo, monophonic instruments, arpeggios for chords and everything so badly overdriven then quickly compressed at the end to give it that little bit of a distorted sound - no really. Have you seen the clipping on those samples in old Amiga modules?

Well here is a MU:LAB UL (3.0.38 ) project file for all of you to sink your teeth into. (word of warning, DO NOT turn off the limitar unless you want to become instantly deaf!)

NOTE: I did not compose this song, I simply spent a good few days staring at MilkyTracker transferring it all over note by note. :B The original is by Poke53280.

Here's an MP3 to gnaw on first.

You could probables use it as a template for own chip tunes. The little chip arpeggio system I have down works wonders - even if it does flood the project with countless numbers of sequences. Another use of the proposed arpeggiator me thinks ;)

Peace!

 :o  :wheee: :harp: :tu:

Another chiptune lover here.

I own a commodore with the sound expander and with that cool plastic keyboard overlay, as well as a sidstation and i plan to get one Messiah for my c64 asap. But i never did a 100% chiptune, i only used it's sounds for my electronica songs, but never tryed to make a "Rubharb-ish" tune. I usually use my sidstation as a SID player with ASID and each time i do it my face looks like this :ud: :troll: :hihi:

Amazing how you managed to get this result with mulab, it has become my fave musession in a second :D

Could you give details on how you made those arps and leads?

Later on time i'll make some sid patches for mulab using custom sid waves for the osc, but you're right that an arpeggiattor and a monophonic mode would be awesome.

I love chiptune! I have a C64C with Prophet64, a Gameboy with LSDJ, I emulate a Megadrive frequently using VOPM (I'm kinda well known for it on 8bc :B ) and I use various trackers all the time.
I'm a little bit of a nerd.

The arp was very simple.

Link the gate track, which specifies the arp note on and note off as well as the arps ADSR, to the note-gater (which is a very handy preset in MULAB - also good for gated reverbs). Then link the arp track to the arp MuSynth.
DO NOT link them directly to the mixer insert. Link them to the individual instruments.

The arp sequences themselves are just short three notes loops set to 1/64th steps.

The actual arp synth itself is just an oscillator and an amplifier both linked to event input.

Done. It just leaves you with loads and loads of sequences if you like to abuse the arpeggio.

Amazing and funny.. it remembers me on the warez software
Sometimes when i open those programs the vivid sound of a chiptune came out and sometimes hypnotic to listen.

stellar job!

i checked out the mp3 and will definitely have to dig into that musession to figure out how you did this. sounds like a proper XM tune. the drums and arps are spot-on!

i've never made a full-blown chiptune before, only using my mssiah and lsdj in my dubstep productions. :]

I am curious if you now the sound of a fruitautomate (gambling machine)that is in fact the question
it should be fun to incorporate those sounds in a chip tune song
