Oh god, don't even think about using the YRG for anything guitar for one second! RU kidding me? It sounds HORRIBLE! No, the entire utility of the YRG is in controlling keyboard and orchestral (brass/strings/synths/etc) sounds. For that it may make you rock indeed.

How can they be 'there and shipping' yet not in California (where they ship to us from)?

Maruuk, I think we're on the same wavelength here.

To me, the whole point of a MIDI guitar is so that us guitar players can access all the sounds available to keyboard players, such as strings, brass, synth pads etc etc. When it comes to guitar sounds, I'll stick to the real thing.

I also have no intention of using it live, it's purely for my home studio and songwriting/recording.

A guy just emailed me saying they're there ( in Memphis) and now are shipping. I think they're in Tennessee?

This actually means that a large shipment of YRG's left China last Friday (via Fedex Air), and have arrived at the Main Fedex Sort facility in the USA ( in Memphis, Tennessee) and have (as of this morning) cleared USA Customs, and are now (Pending foul weather, tornadoes, etc) currently on their way via Fedex Air to Inspired Instruments in Irvine, California. Under the best circumstances they will arrive at Inspired Instruments by 10:00AM tomorrow - Wednesday (June 9, 2010.

Hopefully those who pre-ordered the YRG will all get phone calls and emails in the next 48 hours - to verify our current shipping address, and whether we want to add the new folding gig bag to our order. Earliest possible date/time for any of us on the YRG pre-order list to obtain a Fedex Tracking number is tomorrow afternoon. (Wednesday - June, 9, 2010)

Inspired is not hiding from anyone. They are busy contacting all the pre
orders by phone and email. If you have moved and have a new phone number and
email address, they are not going to ship you your guitar until they verify your
order and shipping information and update your contact information.
The first 500 You Rock Guitars just arrived and the phone company techs are
installing and testing the multi line switchboard, including the toll free
numbers. It was pure luck I got through to Kevin on the 1st try.
As soon as the phones are all up, the phone numbers will be posted. And
anyone will be able to call with any changes you need to make to your order.
Kevin said thanks for your patience and he is busy setting up shipping and
testing the new phone system. Other employees are verifying orders, updating and
running order payments, and packing verified preorders for shipping. Other
employees are reading and responding to emails in the order they are received.
I got a chance to talk with Doug Morton, the sound guru who had a question
for me about a friends preorder. He is having it shipped here to Texas and wants
me to forward it to him overseas. Doug was busy running credit cards after CS
gave him the verified orders.
Everyone at Inspired is multi tasking and getting done whatever needs to be
done.

Re Bending:

If this instrument is successful they may build others. there are some that will never be satisfied with a guitar like midi controller. There are others who are willing to adapt to the technology at hand. Adaption is the key to success. If you want to do things the way you've always done them you'll only get the same results.


As I stated earlier if the initial product is a success it will allow for the development of other products from III.
Possibly with greater CC accessability.

I too have several guitars, I like many not buying the instrument for replication of guitar sounds. They have some nice sounds, When playing the sounds I'll prolly focus on making the most of the sounds they provide rather then complaining about what it can't do. And I'll spend the rest of the time making music with my soundsets.

Don't waist your time there - EZ Gear will not have inventory for at least a few more weeks.

Thanks, that's what I figured. They are kind of selling themselves like they're the marketing wing of Inspired or something. When in fact they're no closer to getting a shipment than Toys R Us or Walmart. And "EzGear" is the only other entity selling the YRG besides Inspired.

Matter of fact, EzGear basically doesn't exist, they have no phone, no human to reach, it's virtual. The YRG is actually sold by "Audio-Outfitters" out of Utah which, surprise surprise, doesn't have a telephone either!

This product has hands down the sleaziest, most fly-by-night and unprofessional marketing and sales operation ever.

Doesn't make the product bad, of course, but it sure doesn't help!

As some of you who are on other lists I frequent have already seen I emailed Kevin Sunday about the shipping charges that were showing to be applied to my card [along with the $179 pre-order price]. Yesterday I received a reply that was also copied to a staff member at Inspired with instructions to correct it. I also received a copy of the staffer's email back to Kevin stating the problem had been handled. Today a check of my account shows the shipping charge removed. Pretty darn quick response to a customer concern. Now before the uproar starts let me say: No, I don't have my YRG yet either...

Elsewhere they reported they were flying in the first shipment from China and it should arrive today, June 8. Further, shipping to pre-orders should start tomorrow, June 9.

That's what I have also.
Unless they are not logging the data with the ground carrier, "processing' would mean it hasn't yet been picked up by the ground carrier.

So far, no call,no e-mail, no tracking number.
This will have to change in the next day or two...according to their blog promise.

Agreed - EZ-Gear was where I first "registered" to be informed when the YRG would be available - that was over 10 months ago. They actually do communicate - but they are simply an online reseller, and not the YRG source.

Tim means well and has posted the only beta testers video's AFAIK except those by Inspired. He's been on the midiguitar group for a little over two hundred years I think! [ggg] However, being an alien from a different universe he has a different slant of some things than most of us do...[ggg] All of his videos have been finger picking; Chet Atkins I guess.

Okay, here's the deal:

EzGear and Audio-Outfitters are the same company in Utah. They have no phone listed on either site. Seriously, they don't. You have to hunt through the BBB to find a listing for them, and then find the phone number there. That's not cool.

Ez-Gear/Audio-Outfitters did in fact maintain a list of email pre-orders from last Spring. They submitted this list to Inspired and are drop-shipping their pre-orders directly from the Inspired warehouse at Irvine, CA this week. A-O claims that Inspired will have more than enough product to cover not only their own pre-orders but all of the A-O pre-orders as well. "They got a big shipment in." According to the guy at A-O.

So everybody's happy. Maybe. (this should not have been this difficult to deal with--all 3 companies should have had telephone numbers posted from the getgo)
