With any luck - there will be several independent YRG Videos by actual end users on YouTube this weekend.

And please, guys...do not play us the crappy internal poser-band tones, or show yourself playing Rock Band with it. Your vid is meaningless without actual midi control of a soft-synth/sampler! Give us different tones, from keyboards to strings to synths to brass.

I just called the "YRG hotline" number below (949)954-5366, and left a message and 10 minutes later I got a return call and spoke with a sales agent at Inspired Instruments - they verified my existing order #118 and my VISA card number.



They state that the big YRG shipment has indeed already arrived at Inspired Instruments in Irvine , CA this morning.
They assure me my YRG will be shipping within 48 Hours. Gameflex Cartridge will ship 2 weeks later.

I would imagine most gamers would give it a miss as they'll be happy with the cheap controllers already out there for it. If they want to learn guitar I'm sure they would go to an auction site and pick up a cheap axe.

I made much the same point on another forum that was having heavy discussion about the YRG. You can buy a complete kit comprising cheap axe, bag, amp, lead, strap and pick for the same price as a YRG. If I wanted to learn to play a guitar, I know which option I would go for.

However, the main thrust of my argument was that the YRG, while incedibly cheap for a musician, is really very expensive for a gamer. Since the whole marketing thrust (and consequent financial considerations re manufacturing, marketing, R&D, etc.) is based on the size of the gaming market, unless the gamers buy it in serious quantities (which, I have to say, I seriously doubt they will) then the company will fall flat on its financial face.

That will either mean the YRG will just vanish off the face of the earth altogether or someone will buy the company at a knock-down price and re-market the YRG as a musicians instrument at a more realistic (and obviously higher) price.

Any musician considering buying one would probably be well-advised to get in fairly early and not leave it too late before ordering one - or they might miss the boat altogether. I certainly intend to buy one, but I am still waiting for proof positive they exist!!

well , i am a beginner in this musicworld, played a little with
reason and cubase 5-10 years ago, but started about 8 months ago, with
a real guitar (acoustic), and started playing guitar hero 2 for about 3 years
now, but truely prefer playing Rockband (cant wait for rockband 3), and it actually helped me being able to
play with right hand, even though i am left handed.

i will use the YRG to practice as often as i can, and anywhere i can, playing and jamming
with my ipod songs all in silence. which is good, because i have 2 little kids 2½ and 4. i think this YRG will help kids and other gamers, taking the next step to a real guitar.

whats your guys story, you are all pro's musician ??

Gosh Kevin, can't imagine why anyone would be bummed by...

1. A product that ships 6 mos. late with little to no update information for customers during that entire time period (save the same stale convention articles from months before)

2. Weird demos showing almost zero midi output performance

3. A product skewed largely as a toy for little kids selling 5X times what the competition charges

4. Customer service with no phone that in order to apologize for delays and non-communication emails its customers about the sorrows of their private life followed by a juvenile vicious personal name-calling ad hominem hatefest

Well, gang, here's to a great product in SPITE of Inspired Instruments. It won't matter if we're all rockin out to great midi tracks next week at this time.

Yes they made a number of mistakes along the way.



There are some video's demonstrating midi out fed thru logic.

They started with the plan for the model they have. I'm sorry your not satisfied with the intended design/market. If it brings more people to the world of playing guitar more power to them. I don't have a gaming system. I don't play GH or Rockband. I'm not ashamed to plug a yrg into my computer. Maybey your ashamed of walking on stage with it. Okay you've got a fashion statement to prove. go out and get a ztar. Ya need wood to feel complete get a z5.

Who knows maybe yrg will create a market where there was none before and as a result competition will emerge. And / or in a year III will have the captial to expand it's product line

Ha...Today I must have watched at least 20 ppl or more making sounds with the YRG in vids. All of them picked or strummed the strings in a single downward direction.
I'm thinking,"Here we go, I can feel trouble coming down the road." Then I see this one guy at the very end of the vid now on the home page of their site strumming in both directions! Thank God! It's the internal classical guitar sound, but hey.
Is it me or is it just chance that every vid i've seen, except two, show picking or strumming in a single downward direction? It's not natural. You would think the demonstrators at the shows would hand the player a pick! But many i've seen are using their thumbs to stroke downwards...haha It's been making me real agitated for weeks. haha
I guess it's a bit late now, since i'm about to receive the guitar, but it would have been nice to see JUST ONE FREAK'IN ROCK GUITAR PLAYER PLAYING A ROCK SOLO ON THE GUITAR CALLED THE YOU ROCK GUITAR!!!
There hasn't been one demo that has any semblance of rock what so ever. haha
They should have appropriately named it the pussy ass guitar. haaaaaaa

It will run on internal batteries, from the USB connector power or [IIRC] from a wall wart.

Plus there is no need for an external USB to MIDI interface. Just connect YRG to your WinPC or MAC using the YRG's USB connection and your PC/ Mac will recognize the YRG as a MIDI input device.

Also it can run off 4 AA batteries.

Ah, it'll run off USB power, cool.

You know back about a year ago it seemed it was going to have USB-only, but at some point they added a midi connector which is very cool for live.
